System
CONTENT The learners demonstrate an understanding of how the major

Annotation:

In this lesson, I applied research-based knowledge and principles of

the teaching and learning process by integrating music as an
instructional strategy to introduce the topic on the Integumentary
System. The use of the song “The Skin”, adapted to the tune of “This is
the Way”, engages learners through a familiar and enjoyable activity that
stimulates interest, motivation, and active participation.

This approach is grounded in Howard Gardner’s Theory of Multiple

Intelligences, particularly addressing the musical, bodily-kinesthetic,
and interpersonal intelligences of learners. It also aligns with
constructivist principles, emphasizing that students learn best when
they can connect new information to prior experiences—in this case,
through familiar routines related to personal hygiene.

By incorporating singing and movement, the activity promotes

multisensory learning, which supports retention and understanding of
the lesson concepts. It creates an interactive and positive classroom
atmosphere that encourages collaboration and engagement.
Furthermore, the activity demonstrates differentiated instruction by
accommodating diverse learning styles and developmental needs of
Grade 6 learners.
Overall, this teaching approach reflects the effective application of
research-based pedagogical principles that enhance comprehension,
motivation, and meaningful learning in Science.

C. ANALYSIS (Presentation/ Discussion)

parts of the integumentary system ---skin, hair, nails,
glands).

For today’s lesson we will discuss the Layer of the

Skin.

SKIN
The skin is the largest organ of the body.
The skin is composed of the outer layer, middle layer,
and inner layer.

IT Is the outer layer of the skin It appears scaly

because it is composed of layer of flat and dead
cells.

2. DERMIS
Is the middle layer of the skin and it is found below
the Epidermis. This layer contains the sweet glands, oil
glands, hair follicles, and blood vessels.

This is the inner layer and also it is the layer of

the fat below the Dermis.

HAIR

It is made of Keratin. Hair grows from the hair

root within the hair follicle embedded in the skin.

NAILS

They are also made of keratin. They are formed

from the root of the epidermis.

GLANDS
Release substances through the pores. The main
gland of the skin are the sweat glands and oil
glands.

SWEAT GLANDS help in the excretion of waste

 by releasing the excess water and salt produced
by the body.

OIL GLANDS also called Sebaceous glands,

secrete an oily substance called sebum. SEBUM
lubricates and waterproofs the surface of the skin
and hair.

ANALYSIS

I applied research-based principles of inquiry and independent

skin from sun exposure. This activity promotes self-directed
learning and helps learners connect scientific concepts to real-
