ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF USING MOBILE PHONE TO CHILDREN:
In the current world, mobile phone has become a basic aspect of our life. Individuals use them for entertainment or
work or more. besides, the quantity of mobile phone user has increased rapidly, and the greater part of them are still
at a little age. In this essay, I will figure out the advantages and disadvantages of mobile phones for youngsters.
let's begin with its advantages. Firstly, mobile phone was created for emergency purposes. If children have one, they
can call the police when they are in danger or they can call the firefighters when they see buildings on fire. They can
also contact their parents directly if there are issues at school. moreover, smartphone helps keep in touch with family
members and friends because through the internet, it is easy to interface with everyone even when they are in the
other hemisphere.
Furthermore, mobile phone is an incredible equipment to improve knowledge. As we realize that when there is a
pandemic infection, every activity of human includes learning will be deferred. Around then, a great deal of online-
study applications (Zoom, Microsoft Team, Google Classroom,… ) can facilitate opportunities for children to learn
as usual. likewise, websites and online applications, for instance, Wikipedia, Chrome, or Oxford Online Dictionary,
… can provide lots of valuable and interesting information for children about what they are searching for. Finding
information faster and knowing opinions from numerous individuals may result in teenagers' effective study.
Nonetheless, there are still a few disadvantages of utilizing phone for children that make the parents have to think
twice before giving their babies a phone. Firstly, this gadget can cause many health problems. for instance: muscle
fatigue, neckache, and especially short-sighted due to the blue light's impact. In addition, Hearing debilitation can
also be brought about by hearing the loud sound from mobile phone for quite a while.
and the most hazardous disadvantage that must be referenced is telephone addiction. If teenager focus on the internet
excessively, they will not care about real life and just concentrate on what's going on their phone. This regularly
leads to a few changes in their character; namely feel furious, fastidious, and easily cry without a mobile phone.

Dear Milkyway,
How is it going these days? I’m cheerful that you have asked me about my new mobile phone. Last week, my
parents bought it from a prestigious technology store for my birthday, especially it is an Apple’s new
edition – IPHONE 12. I spend most of my time using it, except from dinner time. Due to my new mobile’s
advanced equipment, I can use it for searching information or abnormal words through Google, Oxford
Dictionary,... Learning and entertainment are also effortless. Moreover, I can download applications to
play in my spare time; it is easy for me to read interesting books, comics, or novels in the internet. Besides,
my relative and siblings are able to contact with me even when they’re far from home, thanks to social
media in my new mobile phone. If you have any questions, write letters to ask me.

THE MEASURES OF PROTECTING ENDANGERED ANIMALS:
Nowadays, the number of animals has been reduced rapidly to such a low number, but there are some measures that
we can take to deal with these problems and protect endangered animals. Firstly, people should
propagandize the alarming situations of wild animals and raise residents’ awareness of how vital
endangered animals are. For instance, insects and mammal play an important role in plants’ pollination,
medical researches and economic growth. Secondly, the government should spend budget to improve
animals’ living environment as well as preserve valuable natural resources instead of developing weapons.
Moreover, climate change and natural disasters are also the reason for animals’ extinction. So, it is human’s
responsibility to recycling and disposing of the waste properly. Besides, each country must impose laws
and strict punishment to prevent people from poaching animals uncontrollably. In conclusion, protecting
endangered animals will help our life to become better and enrich the nation’s creature diversity.
nowadays, sport has become an essential parts of our life. Famous and talented sports players can be the millionaire
due to their earning from matches, but some interview shows that they are making more money through
commercial and entertainment rather than play in sports. this has some benefits but also affects sports
players.
Firstly, advertising a trademark is an effective and legal way to make money; it can be sport players’ second
employment. Moreover, sport players’ reputation is also increased rapidly by advertising games or
beverage labels. Working in other fields is a good opportunity for them to create relationship with people.
However, their main work is still playing sports. If they place too much emphasis on the second
employment as well as waste time building an image in public, their skills and endurance will rust. Even
worse, they can be kicked out of their sports club. The more they concentrate on advertising work, the more
similar to actors and models they become. Everyone will remember them as good-looking guys who appear
in some posters or videos, not footballers or athletics.
Secondly, sport players are also affected if the product in advertisements has poor quality or not good for health. For
instance, a footballer is not allowed to advertise any kind of beer or wine as they will have unexpected
effects on their liver and nervous system. Besides, Sport players do not have any experience of working
with cameras or acting. It can take them a long time to learn and understand how to deal with those devices
while these skills are not necessary for their main work.
In conclusion, earning money through advertisements and entertainment is a good choice and not wrong at all, but
sports players should not focus on it too much. Instead, they can spend time practicing and increasing their
endurance. Plus, the salary they get from winning a match is also enormous, so they do not need to film
advertisements or join a game show on TV
- The tables and pie chart demonstrate individuals’ thoughts about aspects of a new shopping
center in Auckland, New Zealand. Both genders were asked whether they were approved shops,
restaurants and design.
- For shops, a significant proportion of female shoppers (34% very satisfied and 37% satisfied) felt
contented with the shops compared to 61% (17% very satisfied and 45% satisfied) of males. The
equal numbers of two kinds of customers in 20% said they were unhappy. However, males who
had no comment were twice as much as females. (…against…)
- As regards restaurants, it is obvious that a large majority of males felt delighted, as 80% (25 very
satis and 55 satis) indicated their satisfaction. By contrast, women’s enjoyment was lower, as
only 57% (…) of them felt happy. Furthermore, the dissatisfaction of women (21%) was also four
times higher than that of men (5%).
- For the design, more than half of the customers had a positive impression (62…). Only 10 out of
100 individuals were unpleased and 11% did not make any comment.
- Overall, a large number of respondents approved the new shopping complex

The table shows the number of employees and factories producing silk in England and Wales
between 1851 and 190
The given table indicates the figures for the number of workers and silk-producing
factories in England and Wales=the last few years of the eighteenth century (from 1851)
and the first year of the 20th century (1901).
- As can be seen, women were employed more than men and the number of workers in
both countries decreased sharply from a to b. During the same period, there were many
fluctuations in the number of silk factories.
- For employees, the workforce reached the highest number in 1851, with 130.750
employees (including 53.964 male and 76.786 female). However, the total laborers in
1901 only made up a third of that in 1851, with 38.942 employees. This stemmed from
the sharp fall of workers in both genders throughout the following 40 years.
- As regards to factories, there were only 272 factories in 1851. Ten years later, the
manufactures’ number attained its peak with 761 factories after which it decreased to
693 in 1871. After that, it reached 702 in 1881 then strongly declined in the last 20 years
(from 663 to 623 factories).

In the current world, the Internet has become ubiquitous and its rapid
development has also revolutionized the way people studying and teaching.
Some universities and colleges have started sharing their courses online on
the Internet for everyone’s use. It is also believed by many individuals that e-
learning will one day be the alternative to face-to-face learning. Personally, I
completely disagree with this opinion.
For a variety of reasons, it would be wrong to think that online learning is more
beneficial than direct learning. Firstly, spending too much time staring at the
screen can affect students’ health. Experts and scientists prove that the green
light from electrical devices is detrimental to eyes because it brings in
unexpected eyes diseases such as short-sightedness and blindness.
Furthermore, online classes are easily impacted if the network is not available
or if learners can’t access the internet. Secondly, learners can struggle with
concentrating on the course as they are easily distracted by games or
unrelated images.
Finally, a face-to-face classroom offers opportunities for individuals to practice
what has been learned. For instance, students can conduct some interesting
experiments mentioned in chemistry and biology textbooks. At school, not
only will pupils gain knowledge about lots of fields but also experience
important life skills such as teamwork ability and communication skill. Each of
the students can become more and more independent in dealing with their
own problems. Learners can learn how to make friends, too. Besides, face-to-
face learning helps teacher to keep students’ behavior under control and
make sure that the whole class understands every subject.
In conclusion, although electrical devices’ development has changed the way
people learn and e-learning is supposed to be an alternative to direct classes,
this idea still has at least as many objectors. In my point of view, online
learning cannot be used instead of the face-to-face one. It should only be
seen as an extension of classical forms of learning and be used in special
situations (for example if there were a pandemic) or for those who do not have
enough time to take part in courses in schools.
In recent years, the Internet’s rapid development has been revolutionizing the way people study and
teach. Some universities and colleges have started sharing their courses online on the Internet for
everyone’s use. Therefore, many individuals contend that distance learning is more profitable and will
be the alternative to teaching-learning classroom. Personally, I completely disagree with this opinion.
For a variety of reasons, it would be wrong to think that online learning is more beneficial than direct
learning. Firstly, spending too much time staring at the screen is detrimental to students’ health. The
evidence is a lot of students have eye diseases, such as short-sightedness and blindness caused by the
blue light of electrical devices’ screens. Besides, an improper learning position can influence learners’
spine and skeletal system. The abnormal growth of bones makes people feel hurt and move difficultly.
Secondly, a face-to-face classroom offers opportunities for individuals to practice what has been
learned. For instance, students can conduct experiments mentioned in chemistry and biology textbooks.
Consequently, students can easily accumulate knowledge. Finally, there are more people-interactions in
the classical forms of learning. Teachers can keep students’ behavior under control, pupils can also
engage in school events with classmates. Thus, they will develop some supportive skills such as
communication and teamwork skills.
In conclusion, although people believe that e-learning is an alternative to real classes, I am not in favor
of that opinion. In my opinion, online classes still remain some disadvantages to our health and do not
include the interaction between teachers and students. It should only be used in special situations (for
example if there were a pandemic).
The 2003 Heatwave
It was the summer, scientists now realise, when global warming at last made
itself unmistakably felt. We knew that summer 2003 was remarkable: Britain
experienced its record high temperature and continental Europe saw forest fires raging
out of control, great rivers drying to a trickle and thousands of heat-related deaths. But
just how remarkable is only now becoming clear.
The three months of June, July and August were the warmest ever recorded in western
and central Europe, with record national highs in Portugal, Germany and Switzerland as
well as in Britain. And they were the warmest by a very long way. Over a great
rectangular block of the earth stretching from west of Paris to northern Italy, taking in
Switzerland and southern Germany, the average temperature for the summer months
was 3.78°C above the long-term norm, said the Climatic Research Unit (CRU) of the
University of East Anglia in Norwich, which is one of the world's leading institutions for
the monitoring and analysis of temperature records.
That excess might not seem a lot until you are aware of the context - but then you
realise it is enormous. There is nothing like this in previous data, anywhere. It is
considered so exceptional that Professor Phil Jones, the CRU's director, is prepared to
say openly - in a way few scientists have done before - that the 2003 extreme may be
directly attributed, not to natural climate variability, but to global warming caused by
human actions.
Meteorologists have hitherto contented themselves with the formula that recent high
temperatures are “consistent with predictions” of climate change. For the great block of
the map - that stretching between 35-50N and 0-20E - the CRU has reliable
temperature records dating back to 1781. Using as a baseline the average summer
temperature recorded between 1961 and 1990, departures from the temperature norm,
or “anomalies”, over the area as a whole can easily be plotted. As the graph shows,
such is the variability of our climate that over the past 200 years, there have been at
least half a dozen anomalies, in terms of excess temperature - the peaks on the graph
denoting very hot years - approaching, or even exceeding, 2°C. But there has been
nothing remotely like 2003, when the anomaly is nearly four degrees.
“This is quite remarkable,’ Professor Jones told The Independent. “It’s very unusual in a
statistical sense. If this series had a normal statistical distribution, you wouldn’t get this
number. The return period [how often it could be expected to recur] would be something
like one in a thousand years. If we look at an excess above the average of nearly four
degrees, then perhaps nearly three degrees of that is natural variability, because we’ve
seen that in past summers. But the final degree of it is likely to be due to global
warming, caused by human actions.”
The summer of 2003 has, in a sense, been one that climate scientists have long been
expecting. Until now, the warming has been manifesting itself mainly in winters that
have been less cold than in summers that have been much hotter. Last week, the
United Nations predicted that winters were warming so quickly that winter sports would
die out in Europe’s lower-level ski resorts. But sooner or later, the unprecedented hot
summer was bound to come, and this year it did.
One of the most dramatic features of the summer was the hot nights, especially in the
first half of August. In Paris, the temperature never dropped below 23°C (73.4°F) at all
between 7 and 14 August, and the city recorded its warmest-ever night on 11-12
August, when the mercury did not drop below 25.5°C (77.9°F). Germany recorded its
warmest-ever night at Weinbiet in the Rhine Valley with a lowest figure of 27.6°C
(80.6°F) on 13 August, and similar record-breaking nighttime temperatures were
recorded in Switzerland and Italy.
The 15,000 excess deaths in France during August, compared with previous years,
have been related to the high night-time temperatures. The number gradually increased
during the first 12 days of the month, peaking at about 2,000 per day on the night of 12-
13 August, then fell off dramatically after 14 August when the minimum temperatures
fell by about 5°C. The elderly were most affected, with a 70 per cent increase in
mortality rate in those aged 75-94.
For Britain, the year as a whole is likely to be the warmest ever recorded, but despite
the high temperature record on 10 August, the summer itself - defined as the June, July
and August period - still comes behind 1976 and 1995, when there were longer periods
of intense heat. “At the moment, the year is on course to be the third hottest ever in the
global temperature record, which goes back to 1856, behind 1998 and 2002, but when
all the records for October, November and December are collated, it might move into
second place/' Professor Jones said. The ten hottest years in the record have all now
occurred since 1990. Professor Jones is in no doubt about the astonishing nature of
European summer of 2003. “The temperatures recorded were out of all proportion to the
previous record," he said.
“It was the warmest summer in the past 500 years and probably way beyond that. It was
enormously exceptional."
His colleagues at the University of East Anglia's Tyndall Centre for Climate Change
Research are now planning a special study of it. “It was a summer that has not been
experienced before, either in terms of the temperature extremes that were reached, or
the range and diversity of the impacts of the extreme heat," said the centre's executive
director, Professor Mike Hulme.
“It will certainly have left its mark on a number of countries, as to how they think and
plan for climate change in the future, much as the 2000 floods have revolutionised the
way the Government is thinking about flooding in the UK. The 2003 heatwave will have
similar repercussions across Europe."
Nowadays, shopping on the Internet has become more and more popular. Online applications and
websites now allow individuals to engage in everything from books to household furniture. Personally, I
think e-commerce has more upsides than its drawbacks.
The biggest advantage of online shopping is convenience. It gives people the opportunity to order and
look for things every time. As living in the secluded countryside, I always find it difficult and time-
consuming to drive to the city center to buy a train ticket. Nevertheless, I can now book tickets on
websites and save time. Buying things through the Internet does not require traveling. For those who
are busy, online shopping helps them to avoid crowds and peak hours. They can prevent other costs
such as petrol and some unnecessary taxes, too.
Another benefit is that there is no physical limitation on the Internet, therefore, the variety available for
a single item is endless. Also, there are countless websites where everyone can compare the prices and
extra features of goods. Thus, such things help people to choose and buy the most suitable product for
them. Moreover, shopping websites offer plenty of great deals for customers. Consequently, customers
can pay for what they want with an affordable, reasonable price.
In conclusion, the disadvantages of e-commerce trend are overshadowed by the benefits resulting from
modern technology. I am convinced that online shopping is a great innovation as it is convenient and
provides more options.
Dear Dean,
It's great to know that you travelled to Mars during your summer vacation. We also had
a memorable time on the Moon. We were lucky to meet some of the residents there.
They are fiercely hospitable and generous although we had just met. They look like
fairies or angels in the myths but only one-meter tall. Most of them have blue eyes and
white, long hair. The others have silver, disheveled hair. What a gorgeous appearance! I
think they are attractive, too.
Hope to see you soon to show you the pictures we took there
Love,
Tom.
The visual environment is one of life’s aspects that easily affect our feelings. There are many things a
person can do to improve the visual environment. Firstly, you can organize your possessions neatly. For
example, you can arrange textbooks and notebooks based on their colors (from bright color to dark
color). Secondly, you can put a dustbin in your room, so that you will not throw the rubbish
tumultuously. Thirdly, you should take part in tree planting campaigns to add more plants in your
neighborhood. Hence, they will not only improve the visual environment but also make the air fresher.
Finally, you can also organize a clean-up campaign in your area which everyone is welcomed to join, and
then announce to your neighbors. The more people join, the faster the work will be finished. Also, you
can have lots of fun with your neighbors.
I completely agree with the idea that computer games have many disadvantages to children. The biggest
harm of computer games is that they cause health issues. If children spend too much time looking at the
computer’s screen, they will catch eye illnesses such as shortsightedness and blindness. Moreover,
games are time-wasting. If youngsters play overtime, they can be addicted. Hence, children will easily
get mad with their parents if they are not allowed to play computer games. Besides, games’ violent
content results in children’s misbehavior. For instance, a six-year-old boy can imitate what he saw in
fighting games and hit his friends at school. Computer games are played to entertain, however, they can
lead to problems for children if they are not used reasonably.
Nowadays, natural energy such as coal and crude oil is necessary for the world’s industry. However, these
energy resources are not endless. Thus, every individual has to aware of their obligation in energy
efficiency. I completely support this opinion.
It is obvious that you will have lots of financial benefits from preserving dynamism. This is because the
costs of burning and heating fuels today are highly expensive. Besides, electricity and gasoline prices also
rise rapidly. Consequently, using other renewable and environmental energy as an alternative to
mentioned things above will not only help you to significantly cut down your financial burden but also
insulate yourself from living costs' fluctuation.
Another advantage of consuming less power is that it protects the environment from pollutants. As
reducing fuels and coal required for heating in factories, the air will contain less exhaust smoke.
Moreover, if there were no scattered chemicals and substances in the water, the ecosystem and animal
diversity would be prevented from extinction. Preserving energy also conserves limited natural resources.
In conclusion, due to the benefits that an individual and the world can have from conserving energy, I am
convinced that it is everyone's responsibility to save energy.
Nowadays, there are a rising number of parents who expect their children to study abroad. I think this
trend has two major reasons. Firstly, learning overseas provides students the opportunity to improve their
language skills. This is because students need to use foreign languages to communicate and talk with
foreigners every day. Therefore, they could accumulate some interesting dialects. Besides, being a skillful
multilingual obtains learners a well-paid job. Secondly, moving to foreign countries to study is beneficial
for students’ mature period. As living in other countries, students would have to deal with difficulties
such as language barrier, living costs, and different climate. Thus, they could easily feel homesick and
depressed. However, these challenges also help them to become more confident and independent. In
conclusion, studying overseas enhances students’ knowledge and plays a crucial role in their personal
development, which makes many parents have the hope of sending their children to study abroad.
These days, the pattern of a family has greatly adjusted. There are some changes in its organization and
members’ role. In my opinion, these changes are positive.
Modern families have two main differences compared to the past. Firstly, a nuclear family now can have
more than one breadwinner. This is because the living costs in modern life are extremely expensive and
rise higher every day. While there are only a few jobs that are well-paid, many single-earner families
cannot earn enough to provide for their family. Therefore, both parents have to work to reduce the
family’s financial burden. Secondly, more fathers now share the housework with their wives. As a result
of women’s protest for their rights, housework is no more seen as women’s responsibility. Besides,
division of labor reduces the levels of mothers’ depression and emotional stress caused by being
overwhelmed by household chores. Also, it lowers the divorce rates and benefits children awareness
about gender equality.
Those changes in parental roles and family structure are positive. The biggest reason is, those changes not
only help women to pursue their passionate jobs but also support family’s finances. Moreover, it is an
upward step that people are at liberty to do what they like and what they are good at. Women could spend
more time with friends and their private life; men could understand their wives’ difficulties, take care of
their children and observe their growing process.
In conclusion, I think the transformation in member’s responsibility and family’s form can result in a
respectable family and stable home.
These days, many schooling systems depend on examinations to assess children’s knowledge and to
encourage them to study. These tests are seen as an effective way of learning. However, they can also
result in students’ emotional stress and lack of creativity. Thus, many ideas contend that exams should be
prohibited. I completely agree with these opinions.
The biggest reason for banning exams is that they could be a burden to many students. For instance, some
important entrance exams usually put candidates under pressure as they must learn an enormous amount
of knowledge in order to be adapted to their chosen school. Moreover, modern parents often set high
standards for their children and punish them when their mark is under-expected. Therefore, children
would be forced to study without interest or passion in the subjects. This way of learning not only cannot
bring in a good, long-term result but also lead to examine cheating, which might affect a candidate’s
character badly. In some situations, parents’ high expectation increases depression proportion in teenage
ages and makes children try to commit suicide.
Another reason for eliminating examinations is because they have a detrimental impact on children’s
creative ability, psychological health. If students put too much emphasis on learning what has been
provided and do not accumulate other knowledge themselves, their own critical thinking and vivid
imagination will easily be out of practice. Also, children cannot remember and wield what had been
taught in their daily life since they learn them only for exams. Besides, nervousness caused by the fear to
receive a bad mark could influence children’s confidence.
In conclusion, although examinations are believed to be beneficial for most education systems on finding
out students’ problems and facilitate them suitable methodologies, I believe that they should be banned
because they decrease students’ creativity and contribute to their mental nervousness
Although examinations are believed to be beneficial for most education systems on finding out students’
problems and facilitate them suitable methodologies
These days, children have spent too much time surfing the Internet with their computers and have relied
on virtual entertaining types. Many people believe that children would benefit from doing exercises
outside and participating in traditional past times instead of staying indoors day by day. Personally, I
completely agree with this opinion.
For a variety of reasons, I am in favor of the idea that children should spend more time outside. Firstly,
physical training is beneficial for children’s fitness and brain. Exercises do not only boost muscles and
increase insurance to strengthen children’s bodies, but they also help to slow down the aging process and
memory loss. There is evidence to prove that cycling and jogging every day can make the circulatory
system work better and more effectively. Also, playing sports could reduce children’s emotional stress as
they are capable of creating happy hormones and making children forget their anxiety for a while.
Besides, children could learn team management skills, develop some useful skills and become more
sociable from playing team games such as football and basketball.
Secondly, spending all days indoors and surfing the Internet is detrimental for children’s psychological
and physical health. For instance, sitting in one place for a long period of time usually contributes to back
pain and obesity; staring at the computer screen easily leads to eye illnesses such as short-sightedness and
astigmatism. Furthermore, computer addiction is also an enormous drawback of depending on the
computer. Thus, children who waste time on the Internet too often tend to be less outgoing and active
than those who play computer with a proper time. They also easily lose their temper if they are not
allowed to use the computer.
In conclusion, although computers have a vital role in modern life, they can lead to health problems if
children depend on them too much. I believe that children’s development should involve outdoor
activities to have a healthier body and better endurance.
Nowadays, many students have to make great efforts in order to be admitted to universities and
pursue their dream jobs. Passing the entrance exam and having a good academic background are
required for learners if they want to receive a higher education beyond high school. Personally, I
believe that not everyone should be allowed to enter educational colleges
For a variety of reasons, I am not in favor of the idea that every student should be approved to
learn higher education programs irrespective of their scores. Firstly, people who have poor
academic performance can have difficulty following advanced curriculums. A person’s academic
performance indicates a part of his ability. If learners do not have the required scores of basic
subjects that have been taught in primary and high school, they will easily fail to keep pace with
the university work. Besides, lacking of knowledge forces freshmen to study more so as to catch
up with classmates and the workload. Therefore, inducing cramming can make students feel
exhausted and result in their losing motivation.
Secondly, the tuition fee is still an enormous problem if everyone has the allowance to freely
enter the educational programs they have applied, they still have to pay for the cost of courses.
Many students have to do part-time jobs to pay for their fee and living expense. Hence, students
who do not have a good academic background will have less time to learn and increase their
knowledge, as well as become less concentrated on classes. Many individuals can also easily get
into debt because they cannot afford the fee. Although learners can take out a student loan,
whenever they do not pass one of the subjects they choose, the loan grows higher. As a result,
students will be put under pressure and the dropping out rate will be raised.
