NOTIFICATION
CONSTITUTION OF INDIA.
No. SEPRANI-0714/C.R.159/VAISEVA-4.—In exercise of the powers conferred by the proviso
to article 309 of the Constitution of India and in supersession of all existing rules, orders or instruments
made in this behalf, the Governor of Maharashtra is hereby pleased to make the following rules
regulating the recruitment to the post of Operation Theatre Assistant, Group-C (Technical) in the
Directorate of Public Heath Services of the Government of Maharashtra, namely :—
1. These rules may be called the Operation Theatre Assistant, Group-C (Technical) in the
Directorate of Public Health Services (Recruitment) Rules, 2025.
2. In these rules, unless the context requires otherwise,—
(a) "Certificate" means a certificate in Paramedical Technology (Course of minimum one
year duration) awarded by a Statutory Council or Board or any other qualification
declared by the Government to be equivalent thereto;
(b) "Degree" means a degree of a statutory university or any other qualification declared by
the Government to be equivalent thereto;
(c) "Diploma" means a diploma in Paramedical Technology (course of minimum one year
duration) awarded by a Statutory Council or Board or any other qualification declared
by the Government to be equivalent thereto;
(d) "Directorate" means the Directorate of Public Health Services of the Government of
Maharashtra;
(e) "Government" means the Government of Maharashtra;
(f) "Higher Secondary Certificate Examination" means the Higher Secondary Certificate
Examination conducted by a Divisional Board constituted under the Maharashtra
Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board Act, 1965 (Mah. XLI of 1965) and
includes any other examination declared by the Government to be equivalent thereto.
3. Appointment to the post of Operation Theatre Assistant in the Directorate shall be
made either,—
(a) By promotion of a suitable person on the basis of seniority subject to fitness from
amongst persons,-
(i) Holding the post of Ward Boy, Dresser in the Directorate, having not less than five
years of regular service on that post;
(ii) have passed the Higher Secondary Certificate Examination with Physics, Chemistry,
Biology and English :
Provided that, in case of employees who have passed the aforesaid examination at the
time of joining the post of Ward Boy, Dresser or within three years after joining the said
post, the date on which they have completed three years of continue service shall be
deemed to be the date of seniority :
Provided farther that, if employee acquired the prescribed educational qualification
after completing three years of service, the passing date shall be deemed to be the date
of seniority;
or
(b) by nomination from amongst the persons, who,-
(i) are not less than nineteen years of age and not more than thirty eight years of age:
Provided that, the upper age limit shall be relaxed up to five years in case of candidates
Belonging to Backward Class;
(ii) Possess Bachelor of Paramedical Technology in Operation Theatre or Bachelor of
Science in Paramedical Technology in Operation Theatre.
or
(iii)Possess a Higher Secondary Certificate Examination with Physics, Chemistry and
Biology; and a diploma or certificate in Operation Theatre Technology:

Provided that, the preference shall be given to candidates having minimum one year
Experience as Operation Theatre Assistant/ Technician in Government recognized
hospitals.

4. Appointment to the post mentioned in rule 3 shall be made by promotion and nomination in the
ratio of 50:50 respectively.
5. A person appointed to the post mentioned in rule 3 shall be required to pass examinations in
Marathi and Hindi Languages according to the rules made in that behalf, unless he has already
passed or has been exempted from passing those examinations. The person shall not be eligible
for annual increment and for the promotion, until he passes those examinations and submit
those said certificates.
6. A person appointed to the post mentioned in rule 3, shall possess a Certificate in Computer
Operation, as prescribed by the Directorate of Information Technology, Government of
Maharashtra from time to time, within stipulated time period unless he has already passed or
has been exempted from passing such examination. The person shall not be eligible for annual
increment and for promotion, until he passes the said examination and submit the said
certificate.
7. A person appointed to the post, shall submit a declaration of small family at the time of his
appointment, as per the provision of the Maharashtra civil service (Declaration of small family)
rules, 2005 and directives thereof issued by the Government from time to time, otherwise the
candidate is liable to be disqualified for the appointment.
8. A person appointed to the post mentioned in rule 3. Shall be liable to be transferred anywhere
in the State of Maharashtra.

The selection ratio for the post of Operation Theatre Assistant is determined at 50:50 for promotion and nomination respectively .

Candidates from Backward Classes are provided an age relaxation of up to five years in the recruitment process .

Appointees must possess a Certificate in Computer Operation from the Directorate of Information Technology, Government of Maharashtra. They must achieve this certification within a specified time or else they risk ineligibility for annual increments and promotions .
