Design Notes:
1. Design flows are indicative and include a 10% margin above operating conditions.
2. Pump head and NPSH values are based on system resistance calculations including static lift and valve drops.
3. All duties are based on standard crude properties as provided in Appendix A.

Appendix A: Crude Properties (Representative)
API Gravity: 28.5
Sulfur: 1.2 wt%
Viscosity: 2.5 cP
Specific Heat: 2.1 kJ/kg.K
Section 3: Process Description and Design Assumptions
The crude charge system conveys crude oil from storage to the furnace through a series of charge pumps. The main
fractionator is designed for atmospheric distillation with an overhead condenser handling vapors. Reboiler duty ensures
bottoms vaporizations. Assumptions:
- Ambient conditions: 35 degC, 1 atm
- Fouling factor for exchangers: 0.0001 m2.K/W
- Design margins: 10% on flow/duty; 5% on pressure ratings
