After Final Defense, student must do and comply the following:


• Revise manuscript based on the minutes
• Write the final report and the abstract incorporating the revisions/corrections suggested by
the panel.
• Consult assigned Adviser before Panel Routing. Adviser should first sign the document
before the Panel Members.
o Routing of the manuscript
§ Note: One (1) manuscript should be routed to all panel members
• Revise manuscript based on comments in the Routing Form.
• Submit revised manuscript to the Adviser for Grammarly Inspection.
• Secure Grammarly Inspection Report/Result (at least 95%) from the Adviser
• Append Turnitin check report and Grammarly report (see list of documents to append)
• Email the revised manuscript to RPC, see RA’s email address for Turnitin Plagiarism Check
o Note: Acceptable Plagiarism Rating is 25% below and 15% Turnitin threshold or below for
Capstone Project and below. Manuscript cannot proceed to the next step unless report
shows a passing percentage.
• Prepare manuscript for Final Reading of the Research Coordinator/Adviser/ Panel
Members.
• Submit to the Research Adviser one (1) copy of the duly approved hardbound (for the
College) and two (2) e-copies (CDs) of the revised final report (for RPC and LIC).

3. Research Design and Procedure
a. Describes the research protocol, explains how themes were generated, and what
analyses were performed.
b. It describes the design of the study and its classification according to research
type.
c. The appropriateness of the design and methodologies are also discussed.
d. Key steps in the execution of the study is also presented including the time and
objective dimension of the study.
e. It also includes a brief description of the philosophical paradigm employed (if
applicable) in the analysis of qualitative data.
f. Include the description on how the criteria of trustworthiness (e.g., credibility,
dependability, confirmability, and transferability) were held in the conduct of the
study must be presented.
g. In the last paragraph, the ethical provisions considered in the study are presented
(e.g., informed consent, risk and benefits, confidentiality, fabrication and falsification,

practice, standards, or policy aspects.

SUBJECT : Conduct of face-to-face (F2F) Defense Starting 1st Semester of SY 2022-2023

Glory to UM!
The Research and Publication Center (RPC Main) has given the Go-Signal for the conduct of face-to-face
(F2F) Undergraduate Thesis Defense (Title, Outline, and Final) starting this 1st Sem of Academic Year 2022-
2023 (see Thesis Flow).
With this, may we request the thesis committee on oral examination to strictly observe the following guidelines
during the conduct of defense, to wit:
1. When inside the defense room, the student-researchers and faculty research personnel are
mandated/obliged to wear face masks or transparent face shield at all times.
2. Social distancing must be observed at all times and avoid crowding the defense area.
3. For Title and Outline defense, check if student/s is/are enrolled in Res 1 subject and Res 2 for
Final defense.
4. Orient the student-researchers that if they fail to meet and/or satisfy the requirements and criteria
for title, outline, and final defense, they shall be given one chance for re-defense.
5. Explain to the students that If they fail during re-defense they shall be given a failing grade and
are required to reenroll the course.
6. Check if manuscript follow the institutional format and referencing style (discipline-based).
7. Check if researcher/s secure the endorsement of the adviser before submitting the outline/final
manuscripts for defense.
8. Check if the research topic of the students is in accordance with the research priority areas
/research agenda of the College and/or program of studies (OPM 14.03).
9. Ask from the researcher/s to bring all the raw data and evidences of data gathering procedures
during the oral defense as indicator of data trustworthiness and reliability.
10. The defense panel shall be composed of the Research Coordinator/Research Associate, Faculty
member with expertise on the field of study (OPM 14.03).
11. The thesis Adviser must be consulted for any changes/modifications in the methodology and
must be informed of any incident that may affect the study and/or the researchers (OPM 14.03).
12. All comments and suggestions must be explained to the student-researchers and be written in
the minutes of defense.
