Week 2 – Refined Data Visualizations

Introduction
This report presents a collection of refined data visualizations developed from the marketing
campaign dataset provided by Excelerate. The purpose of these visualizations is to simplify
complex campaign performance metrics into clear and actionable insights that can guide
decision-making.

By applying best practices—such as simplification, emphasis, and direct labeling—the

visualizations focus on uncovering spending patterns, engagement trends, efficiency differences,
and audience behaviors. These insights not only provide an evaluation of past campaign
performance but also highlight opportunities for optimizing future strategies.

CTR Trend by Age

Click-Through Rate (CTR) reflects how effectively campaigns attract user interaction. When
segmented by age groups, CTR demonstrates significant variation: younger audiences tend to be
more responsive, with engagement peaking in the 18–24 and 25–34 categories.

This suggests that younger demographics are more likely to click on ads, either due to higher
digital activity or stronger resonance with the messaging. Meanwhile, engagement drops among
older age brackets, highlighting the need for tailored strategies when addressing those audiences.

Insight: Campaigns targeting younger demographics appear more effective. However, to

maximize results, marketers should refine creatives or messaging for older groups to counteract
lower engagement.
CPC vs CPR by Campaign
Cost-Per-Click (CPC) and Cost-Per-Result (CPR) are critical efficiency metrics. When
campaigns are compared on these dimensions, differences become clear: some campaigns
achieve a relatively low CPC but have higher CPR, indicating clicks that do not translate into
meaningful results.

Others, however, demonstrate balanced efficiency, achieving both cost-effective clicks and
results. This comparison underscores the importance of monitoring quality of traffic, not just
the volume.

Insight: Marketers should prioritize campaigns with low CPR even if CPC appears slightly
higher, as these campaigns drive actual business value.
Top 10 Campaigns by Spend
When ranked by spending, the top 10 campaigns reveal where the majority of the budget is
being allocated. This visualization highlights high-investment campaigns, which often dominate
total spend.

However, higher spending does not always correspond with higher efficiency. While these
campaigns are resource-heavy, they must be consistently evaluated against their CTR, CPR, and
ROI to ensure that investment aligns with outcomes.

Insight: Monitoring high-spend campaigns is crucial. If performance is suboptimal, budget

reallocation toward more efficient campaigns can significantly improve overall returns.
Frequency vs CTR
Ad frequency—the average number of times a user sees an ad—can have both positive and
negative impacts. At lower levels, frequency tends to increase CTR, as repeated exposure builds
familiarity.

However, the data shows that beyond a certain point, CTR plateaus or declines. This indicates ad
fatigue, where users become less responsive (or even irritated) by repeated impressions.

Insight: Marketers should carefully manage frequency caps to strike a balance: enough
repetition to build recognition, but not so much that it reduces engagement.
Reach Composition by Audience
The reach composition analysis, displayed through a stacked bar chart, illustrates how various
audience groups contribute to overall campaign reach. Certain audience segments account for a
larger share of impressions, while others remain underrepresented.

This breakdown helps identify which groups are being effectively reached and where gaps exist.
It also supports strategic decisions such as expanding reach among untapped or underperforming
segments.

Insight: A balanced audience distribution ensures campaign scalability. Targeting should be

diversified to avoid overreliance on a single audience category.
Spend Distribution by Geography
Campaign budgets are not spread evenly across regions. The geographic breakdown highlights
where the majority of resources are being deployed.

In some cases, a large share of the budget is concentrated in regions that do not necessarily yield
the best performance. On the other hand, regions with strong results may be underfunded.

Insight: By aligning spend with performance, marketers can ensure more efficient allocation—
channeling investment toward high-performing geographies while testing and optimizing in
weake
r areas.

Most Efficient Campaigns

The final visualization ranks campaigns by efficiency, measured as clicks generated per 100 INR
spent. This allows identification of campaigns that deliver the greatest value relative to cost.

Interestingly, some lower-spend campaigns emerge as highly efficient, outperforming big-budget

ones in terms of ROI.

Insight: Efficiency metrics must complement spend analysis. High efficiency in smaller
campaigns signals opportunities for scaling up investment.
Conclusion
These visualizations transform raw marketing data into actionable intelligence. Key takeaways
include:

 Younger demographics respond better, but older groups need refined strategies.
 CPR is a more meaningful metric than CPC for true campaign value.
 High-spend campaigns require ongoing evaluation for ROI justification.
 Frequency should be optimized to avoid ad fatigue.
 Audience and geographic targeting should be more balanced.
 Small but efficient campaigns represent strong scaling opportunities.

By integrating these findings, future campaigns can be executed with smarter targeting, better
efficiency, and more effective budget allocation.
