Gems and Jewellery Industry Insights

The respondent indicates that the gems and jewelry sector in Pakistan still relies heavily on traditional techniques for delicate jewelry design due to the skill level of the local workforce. While machinery is now used for some processes like polishing and casting, manual skills remain important. The sector is trying to innovate and copy new international designs but the workforce could benefit from opportunities to train abroad and update their skills and knowledge. Investments in the sector are moderately high but constrained by challenges like rising gold and material prices, security issues, and limited marketing of products internationally. With more government support for training, exhibitions, and alternative energy, the sector has strong potential to boost exports but has yet to reach its full capabilities.
