Writing Title: The
impacts of education in Myanmar
Education plays a big role in our everyday lives and career. It is also one of the essential roles in developing
our country. But, every country doesn't have an excellent education like we always wanted. So do in
Myanmar. A lot of things still need to be developed in the education sector.
If I go back to the history of education in Myanmar, there were different types of systems in education in
different eras. Our education system started during the time of ancient kings. In older days, children had to go
to monasteries to study which were run by the monks or nuns. After that, During colonial times, the British
changed monastic education to classroom education. During their time, education access for men and women
improved. Moreover, we also had an excellent education during the time of prime minister U Nu. During his
time, Myanmar was ranked one of the top countries in education. But, things didn't last forever. After that,
we were ruled by a military government and the whole country turned upside down. After this one, we had
hope again and pretty good education during 2015 to 2020 which was formed by the democratic government
Daw Aung San Suu Kyi.
We have had a few good changes in education because of her. She tried to change the school textbooks
which will lead to practical and effective methods based on the international curriculum. We also had
international connections and opportunities. Moreover, a lot of excellent international, public and government
schools were established. Not only the system but also the students' behavior and abilities have changed.
Although she is still not in the government of our country now, she also tried to update the student's behavior
and abilities in education. And one more point is that if i have to compare the old education system to the
modern, there are many changes again. The old education of ours was too outdated. Like, we were not
allowed to discuss with the teachers freely. We were told and asked to do what they said. Now, I feel like we
can get more connections with the teachers and the children have more rights. Moreover, we are able to learn
our lessons with new technology easily, which makes the youth smarter than before. We also have student
development now. Most of the students are
getting scholarships from the top countries of the world which is really amazing.
Although we have changed a few in the educational sector, our country still needs to develop many more.
I hope our country will become a developed country, improve our essential education system like the other
countries and will be peaceful one day.
