My dear Suresh,
I have received your letter. It gives me a great joy to know that you want to be a pilot. I am
sure, one day your dream will come true. But you are to be disciplined at first to reach your goal.
I know, you do not lead a well-disciplined life. You are not regular in your habits. An
indisciplined person cannot shine in life. Don't think, I am discouraging you. I only intend to
make you worthy for your dream. Discipline is an important key to success. A student who
is disciplined , who is regular at studies is sure to prosper in life. So I would ask you to
observe discipline in all of your activities. Discipline means learning a code of conduct. To
be disciplined is to be self-control led and regular in habits. How will you fulfil your aim if
you lie on bed till late hours in the morning? A man who wants to rise in life must rise early.
If the sun rises late even for a day what will happen to us? Can you imagine?
So arise my brother. Lead a disciplined life and see the difference.
Yours affectionately,
Chhorda

m Mosquitoes and flies are causing malaria and other diseases In your area.
Write a letter to the Chairman of the municipality to take measure s that
would help in controlling mosquitoes and flies.
To
The Chairman,
Habra Municipality,
Habra, North 24 Parganas.
Sub : Requesting measures to control mosquitoes.
Sir,
I am an inhabitant of Kamarthuba under your municipality. The area is badly infested
with mosquitoes and flies. The weedy pools, open drains and stagnant water in ditches have
become breeding places of mosquitoes. Heaps of garbage are lying on both sides of the
roads. Flies multiply rapidly. As a ·result, people of the area are suffering from malaria and
other diseases. If this situation is allowed to continue, I am afraid, an epidemic may break
out in the area any time.
Please make arrangements for the drainage of stagnant water and removal of garbage.
Please also see that D.D.T, bleaching powder etc. are sprayed regularly in and around the

m-·ea I would request you to take these and other steps to make people feel safe and secured. \

Sir,
I wo uld •~quest you to publish this letter In your esteemed daily.
PolJutio n is one of our great problems. We are trying to fight it. We know, polythene bags
are causing ha rn1 to our e nvironment. The Pollution Control Board has already imposed a
ban on polythe ne bags. Yet these are widely used. Paper and jute bags are rarely seen.
People a re using poly bags forgetting the hazards these are creating. We know, polythene
cannot be destroyed. Only fire can burn it . But the smoke is very harmful to our health. The
thrown away polythene pouches clog the drains. If buried, they prevent the growth of plants.
They are user-friendly but not at all eco-friendly.
The authorities should organize awareness campaigns. People will willingly obey the ban .
Yours faithfully,
Mahit Majumder

On the third day, the merchant gave the ass a load of cotton. The ass, as usual, tried the same
trick. It fell into the pool on purpose. The cotton absorbed water. It gained m uch in weight n.e
ass found to his disma y the load too heavy to carry. It learned a good lesson .
