IDENTIFYING INFORMATION
Project Title: Project INFORM
Technical Description Project : INFORM ( In-depth Nurturing of students in the Frustration
level to Overcome difficulties in Reading through Mentoring)
Project Description A School-wide reading program that strengthen or enhance the reading
proficiency level of Grade 7 students in Victoria National High School
through in-depth nurturing and coaching

Program
1. The Languages teacher per grade level will have a pre-reading
assessment using the PHIL-IRI.
2. The pre-reading assessment will serve as the diagnostic test to
identify the reading levels of Grade 7 learners
3. Based from the assessment the Languages teachers will conduct
reading sessions moving from place to place using the Mobile
Reading Booth every week.

What is constant is CHANGE. This implies that as the
world moves change occurs. Any institutions like schools need to
be transformed especially its education system in order to become
globally competitive and turn this changes into opportunities for our
learners to be competent and productive citizens of the future.
With or country’s rapidly expanding population and a
huge youth bulge, reading is a critical topic in our current
educational system. It is a fact, that reading affects everything in
the teaching and learning process. It is also considered as the
Rationale: most fundamental habit any student can learn not only education
but also essential for the overall upbringing of our learners
As of today’s increasing enrolment, the biggest problem
is the greater number of learners who lack the opportunity to
develop their reading skills due to ample distractions surrounding
them. The fading reading habit amongst teenagers is severely
alarming. As a result, reading has far been neglected despite the
numerous attempts in eradicating it . Department of Education’s
programs and projects come to and fro , in-and-out, up-and-down,
backward and forward, hitch and hike but still reading has
become the incessant issue that needs to be resolved at a very
high end.
Victroia National High School conducted informal
reading inventory in 2020, have found that out of 245 students
enrolled in Grade 7, 39 male and 19 female are in the frustration
level. This situation resulted to a very appaling situation which
deemed in dire need of a very urgent solution.
This is why project INFORM (In-depth Nurturing of the
students in the Frustration level to Overcome Reading difficulties
through Mentoring) has come to its existence. Construction of
Mobile Reading Booth was also conceptualize as part of this
endeavor, especially now that face to face learning had been cut
due to pandemic. This is to guarantee that reading would still
come alive and continue despite the challenges that we are facing
in this crisis time. Another, is the assigning of Reading teacher for
each nonreader child to conduct reading sessions through
coaching and mentoring which is anchored to Adopt A Reader
Program and Project READ in the Division of Northern Samar, is
what we foresee in order to effectively implement the said project.
The source of fund will be coming from the school
MOOE, LGU, Barangay Officials, alumni members and other
stakeholders who have the philanthropic heart and the passion
to .help children progress not only in reading but also in motivating
them to become passionate and a savant readers.
General Objective: The Project INFORM is anchored to the Project READ of the Division of
Northern Samar which its main objective is to enhance/develop the
reading proficiency level of the students in Grade 7 to be able to grow
better if not the best in the academic level.
Specific Objectives: Specifically, the Project INFORM aims to:

[Link] the parents on the nature, scope and purpose of
remedial reading
3. Create a new / recent learning environment where learners
able to continue reading despite the Covid-19 pandemic.

End of Program Outputs: 1. At least 70% of the frustration level will move to Instructional,

to read can be done in the streets, & at home despite the pressing
times that the world is in now..
