- Draw neat figures wherever required.

Section A – MCQs (1 mark each)


1. If HCF of 72 and 120 is 24, then their LCM is: (A) 320 (B) 360 (C) 240 (D) 420
2. The sum of zeroes of p(x) = 2x^2 - 7x + 5 is: (A) 7/2 (B) 5/2 (C) -7/2 (D) -5/2
3. A pair of equations 3x - 2y = 5 and 6x - 4y = 10 has: (A) Unique solution (B) No solution (C)

Section B – Very Short Answer (2 marks each)


9. Use Euclid’s Division Lemma to show that square of any positive integer is either 3m or 3m+1.
10. Find the zeroes of p(x) = x^2 - 4x.
11. Solve: x/2 + y/3 = 5, x/3 + y/2 = 7.

Section C – Short Answer (3 marks each)


14. Show that √7 is irrational.
15. Solve: 2x + 3y = 12, 3x - 2y = 5 using substitution method.
16. Draw graph of equations 2x + y = 6 and x - y = 2. Find solution.

Section D – Long Answer (5 marks each)


20. Find roots of 2x^2 - 5x + 3 = 0 using quadratic formula.
21. A boat speed 18 km/h, goes 20 km downstream and back in 2 hrs. Find stream speed.
22. Find mean marks of data using assumed mean method: Marks 0–10:5, 10–20:8, 20–30:10,
30–40:7, 40–50:20.

Section E – Case Study (4 marks each)


Case Study 1: A kite is flying at height 60 m, string inclined at 60°. Find string length.
Case Study 2: A bag contains 3 red, 5 blue, 2 green balls. Probability of (i) red, (ii) not green, (iii)
blue or green.
Case Study 3: A tower 50 m has shadow 30 m. A pole has shadow 18 m. Find pole height.
