Accomplishment Report on the Reading Profile

I. Introduction
Reading is a fundamental skill that serves as the foundation for lifelong
learning. At Mojon Elementary School, assessing students' reading abilities is
an essential step in developing effective literacy programs. This accomplishment
report provides an overview of the reading profile of our students, highlighting
improvements, challenges, and initiatives undertaken throughout the school
year.

II. Objectives
The primary objectives of the reading profile assessment were:
1. To evaluate students' reading levels and comprehension skills.

2. To identify students who need additional reading intervention.

3. To implement reading programs and strategies that enhance literacy.
4. To monitor progress and measure the effectiveness of interventions.

III. Methodology The reading profile assessment was conducted through a

combination of standardized reading tests, teacher observations, and
reading fluency checks. Students were categorized based on their reading
proficiency:

• Frustration Readers – Struggling with letter recognition, phonics, and basic

words.
• Instructional Readers – Able to read simple sentences but with limited
fluency and comprehension.
• Independent Readers – Read fluently with good comprehension skills.

IV. Accomplishments and Results

1. Improved Reading Levels: Based on the assessment, there was an increase
in the number of independent readers compared to the beginning of the
school year.

2. Successful Reading Interventions: Students in the frustration and

instructional reader categories were provided with additional support
through one-on-one tutoring, guided reading sessions, and remedial classes.

3. Implementation of a Reading Program: The reading programs encouraged

peer-assisted learning. Also, with the help of the EGRA, CRLA and Phil Iri
where all the readers improve their skills.

4. Parental Involvement: Conducted a Reading at Home campaign, where

parents were provided with strategies to support their children's literacy at
home.

V. Best Practices Aligned with the School’s Reading Program

To support and sustain literacy development, the school implemented the

following best practices:
1. Daily Reading Time: Allocating 20 minutes of uninterrupted reading time
for all students to develop a habit of reading.
2. Guided Reading Sessions: Small-group instruction tailored to students’
reading levels to provide targeted support.

3. Storytelling and Read-Aloud Sessions: Engaging students in interactive

storytelling sessions to improve listening and comprehension skills.
4. Reading Buddies Program: Pairing older students with younger learners to
promote mentorship and reading fluency.
5. Writing and Reading Integration: Encouraging students to write stories
and read their peers’ work to strengthen both literacy skills.

VI. Conclusion
The reading profile assessment at Mojon Elementary School has demonstrated
significant improvements in students’ literacy levels. The interventions and
programs implemented have contributed to the success of many students, but
continuous efforts are necessary to address the challenges. Moving forward, the
school remains committed to fostering a culture of reading that will empower
students to achieve greater academic success.
