Unit 1
1. How did you meet your best friend?
I met my best friend at school. We were in the same class and I sat next to him. We started talking
during a break and discovered we liked the same music. After that we became good friends.
2. What do you do in your free time? Which things do you do with your friends? Are there any
things you do on your own? Why?
In my free time I usually play football and watch movies. I play football and go to the park with my
friends. Sometimes I also enjoy being on my own, like reading books or listening to music, because it
helps me relax. I feel happy when I spend time with friends, but I need alone time to rest, too.
3. What is your favourite possession and why?
My favourite possession is my bicycle. I got it for my birthday last year. I ride it to school and on
weekends I go cycling with friends. I love it because it keeps me fit and I feel free when I’m on it.
4. What was the most important event in your country’s history?
In my country, the most important event was independence. We became independent in 1991. Every
year we celebrate it with festivals and fireworks. This event is important because it gave our country
freedom.
5. When did you last cook a meal? What did you cook?
I cooked a meal last weekend. I made spaghetti with tomato sauce and a salad. It was easy to
prepare and my family enjoyed it. I cooked because I wanted to try a new recipe.
6. Look at the photos. Compare the different things people eat. Talk about what is good and
what is bad about them. In your opinion, how healthy is your diet?
In one photo people are eating burgers and fries, which is fast food. In the other photo people have
a big bowl of vegetables and salad. Fast food tastes good but it’s not very healthy because it has lots
of fat and salt. Vegetables and fruits have vitamins and are healthy for you. I usually eat more fruits
and vegetables than junk food. I think my diet is quite healthy because I eat salad every day, but I
sometimes enjoy a small treat like a burger too.
Unit 2
1. Who do you get on best with in your family? Why?
I get on best with my sister. We have a lot of interests in common and we laugh together a lot. She
helps me with my homework and we go shopping together. Even when we argue a little, we always
care about each other.
2. Do you prefer spending time alone or with others? Why?
I prefer spending time with others because I like talking and doing things together. With friends or
family I feel more comfortable and happy. But I also enjoy some alone time, like reading or listening
to music to relax. Both are nice for different reasons.
3. What do you enjoy doing with your friends?
I enjoy playing football and going to the park with my friends. We also like watching movies together
and sometimes we cook dinner at home. We always have fun when we play games or talk about
school. I feel happy when I spend time with them.
4. Describe a recent party or family gathering you attended.
Last month I went to my cousin’s birthday party. There were many family members, and we played
1
games and ate cake. I chatted with relatives I had not seen for a while. It was very fun and I felt
happy to spend time with my family.
5. Do you have any siblings? How do you all spend time together?
Yes, I have a younger brother. We sometimes fight, but we also play together. We go to the park and
play football or video games. I also help him with his homework when I can. We get on well and I like
spending time with him.
6. Look at the photos. Compare being with others versus being alone.
In the first photo two friends are sitting together on a bench and talking. In the second photo a girl
is sitting alone reading a book. Being with friends is fun because you can share things and laugh.
Being alone can be peaceful and relaxing. I think both are good. Sometimes I enjoy being with
friends, and sometimes I like being alone to read or think quietly.
Unit 3
1. Do you like receiving good news or bad news more? Why?
I like receiving good news more because it makes me feel happy. When I hear good news, I smile
and sometimes celebrate. But if I get bad news, I feel sad or worried. So of course good news is
better for me.
2. What is some good news you have heard this month?
I heard some good news last week: my friend told me I passed my driving test. I was very happy
because I wanted to learn to drive. I also read that a famous singer will visit our city soon. Those
things made me excited.
3. What would you do if you received bad news?
If I received bad news, I would first try to stay calm. I might call a friend or family member to talk
about it. I think it helps to share problems and get advice. After that I would try to think of a solution
or just accept it and move on.
4. How do you usually respond when someone tells you good or bad news?
When someone tells me good news, I always say "Congratulations!" or "That's great!". If someone
tells me bad news, I say "I'm sorry" or "That's too bad" and try to comfort them. For example, if a
friend fails a test, I tell them not to worry and encourage them.
5. When did you last feel happy about something?
Yesterday I felt happy because I finished reading a great book. Also, last week I was happy when I
won a football game with my team. Small successes like that always make me smile and feel proud.
6. Look at the photos. The first shows a man smiling at his phone, and the second shows a
woman reading a letter and looking upset. Talk about how people react to news.
In the first photo, the man is smiling at his phone; he might have gotten good news. In the second,
the woman looks upset by what she’s reading. This shows how people react differently: when I get
good news I smile like the first man, and if it’s bad news I might look worried like the second person.
I usually tell happy friends "That's great!" and I say "I'm sorry" if something bad happens. It's
important to share both kinds of news.
Unit 4
1. What is your favourite outdoor activity?
My favourite outdoor activity is hiking. I love walking in nature and seeing trees and mountains. It
keeps me fit and I enjoy the fresh air. Sometimes I go hiking with my family or friends on weekends.
2
2. Do you prefer the countryside or the city? Why?
I prefer the countryside because it is quiet and has clean air. I like fields, trees, and animals. The city
has more activities, but it is often noisy and crowded. I enjoy the peace of the countryside more.
3. What do you do to help the environment?
I try to recycle things like bottles, paper, and cans. I also use my bicycle instead of a car whenever I
can. At home I save water, for example by turning off the tap while brushing my teeth. I believe these
small actions can make a big difference.
4. Have you ever been on a wildlife trip (like a safari or visiting a zoo)?
Yes, I went to the zoo last year with my school. I saw many animals like lions, elephants, and
monkeys. It was very interesting and I learned a lot. I would like to visit a real wildlife reserve one
day.
5. How important is recycling?
Recycling is very important. When we recycle, we reduce waste and use fewer new resources. For
example, I always put plastic and glass in a recycling bin. This helps protect the environment and
keeps nature clean.
6. Look at the photos. In one, a family is having a picnic and leaving trash on the ground. In the
other, people are picking up litter in a park. What do you think?
In the first photo, the family is leaving a lot of trash around them, which is not good for nature. In
the second, people are cleaning the park by picking up litter. This shows the difference between
polluting and caring for the environment. It is very important to keep nature clean. I always try not
to litter and I pick up garbage if I see it, just like the people in the second photo.
Unit 5
1. What do you want to achieve in the next five years?
In the next five years, I want to graduate from university and start a good job. I hope to learn more
English and maybe travel to another country. I also want to save money and become independent. I
will work hard to reach these goals.
2. How do you think technology will change our lives in the future?
In the future, I think technology will change many things. People might use self-driving cars and
smart homes controlled by computers. Robots could do many jobs for us. The internet will connect
people even more. Technology will make life easier, but we should use it wisely.
3. Are you saving money or planning for the future? What?
Yes, I am saving money for the future. I put some of my allowance into a bank account each month. I
want to save for a car or for further studies. I also plan my budget carefully to make sure I have
enough for important things. Planning money now will help me later.
4. Would you like to live in a different country in the future? Why or why not?
I would like to live in a different country for a while. It would be exciting to learn a new language and
culture. But I also love my home country and family, so maybe I would visit or study abroad, but not
live there forever. Experiencing other places is always interesting.
5. If you had a time machine, where would you go?
If I had a time machine, I would like to go to the year 2050 to see the future. I want to know what
new inventions we have. But I’m also curious about the past, maybe going to the 1960s to see how
people lived then. However, I would be careful because time travel might be dangerous.
6. Look at the photos. The first is an old mobile phone (from the 1990s) and the second is a
modern smartphone. Talk about how phones have changed.
In the first photo, the phone is old with big buttons and a small screen. In the second, the
3
smartphone has a large touchscreen and many apps. Old phones could only call and text, but
smartphones can do much more like take photos, browse the internet, and play games. I like
modern phones because they are very useful, but the old phones remind me how fast technology
changes.
Unit 6
1. What do you know about your family’s history or origins?
I know that my grandparents came from a small village and moved to the city. My family has lived
here for several generations. My parents often tell me stories about their childhood. It is interesting
to learn about where we come from.
2. Do you visit historical places? Which ones?
Yes, I like visiting historical places. Last year I went to an old fortress and a museum in my city. I saw
ancient artifacts and old buildings. It was very interesting to see history in person.
3. What is an important historical event in your city or country?
In my country, an important event was a famous war in the 18th century. Many people fought in it
and it changed our borders. We remember this event every year. It reminds us of our past and how
our country was formed.
4. Would you travel back in time if you could? Where would you go?
If I could travel back in time, I would like to see ancient Rome or Egypt. I would love to see the
pyramids when they were new. But I would be careful to understand the language and culture back
then. It would be an amazing experience.
5. What lessons can we learn from history?
From history we can learn to avoid the mistakes of the past. For example, by learning about wars we
can work for peace today. History also teaches us about different cultures and how people lived long
ago. It helps us understand the present better.
6. Look at the photos. The first shows a horse-drawn carriage on an old street. The second shows
a modern car on a highway. Compare them.
In the first photo is an old horse-drawn carriage, and in the second is a modern car. The old carriage
was slow and needed horses, but it has a classic, romantic look. The modern car is very fast and
comfortable. I prefer cars because they save time and are more convenient, but the old carriage is
interesting and reminds me of history.
Unit 7
1. Who is the best person you know and why?
The best person I know is my older brother. He is very kind and helpful. He always helps me with my
homework and cares about me. I admire him because he works hard and is very patient.
2. What is the best film you have ever seen and why?
The best film I have ever seen is Forrest Gump. It has a great story and interesting characters. I felt
happy and sad at the same time. It teaches important life lessons. I remember it a lot because it is
inspiring.
3. What is the worst habit someone can have?
I think the worst habit is lying. When someone lies a lot, it's hard to trust them. Another bad habit is
being rude to others. If a person is always negative or angry, it's very unpleasant. Honesty and
kindness are much better.
4
4. Which is better, a car or a bike? Why?
I think a car is better for long trips because it is faster and can carry more people. But a bicycle is
better for short trips and is good exercise. I usually drive a car to school in the morning, but I ride
my bike in the park for fun. Both have good points.
5. Describe a perfect day.
A perfect day for me is a sunny Saturday. I wake up early and go for a run in the park. Then I have a
nice breakfast with my family. In the afternoon I play football with friends and later we watch a
movie together. In the evening I read a book and feel happy and relaxed.
6. Look at the photos. One shows a busy city street full of cars and people. The other shows a
quiet park with green trees. Which place would you prefer and why?
The first photo is a crowded city street with many people and cars, and it looks noisy. The second
photo is a calm park with trees and benches, and it looks peaceful. I would prefer the quiet park
because I like nature and fresh air. The park is more relaxing for me than the busy city.
Unit 8
1. Do you like dangerous activities? Why or why not?
I like some exciting activities, but I stay safe. For example, I enjoy riding roller coasters because they
are fun and not too scary. But I don’t like very extreme things like skydiving because it’s too
dangerous for me. I think a little thrill is fun, but safety is important.
2. Have you ever had an accident or broken a rule? What happened?
Yes, once I had a small accident on my bicycle. I was going too fast on a wet road and slipped. I fell
and hurt my knee, but it was not serious. It taught me to be more careful and to always wear a
helmet when I ride.
3. What would you do if you saw someone doing something dangerous?
If I saw someone doing something dangerous, like climbing a high wall, I would first say "Be careful!"
or ask if they need help. I would try to stop them politely and explain the risk. If it was very
dangerous, I would call an adult or emergency services to help.
4. Do you follow safety rules when you travel? Give an example.
Yes, I always follow safety rules. For example, I wear a seatbelt in the car and I always look both ways
before crossing the street. When I ride my bike, I wear a helmet and bright clothes. These rules keep
me safe.
5. Would you swim with sharks if you had a chance?
No, I would not swim with sharks. I know some people do it safely in cages, but it’s too scary for me.
I respect that sharks are wild animals. I prefer to admire them from a distance, like in an aquarium.
6. Look at the photos. The first shows a man dangerously climbing a very tall ladder or cliff. The
second shows a person relaxing safely in a comfortable chair at home. Compare them.
In the first photo, a man is climbing a very tall structure without safety equipment. This looks very
dangerous. In the second photo, someone is sitting comfortably in a chair and relaxing at home. The
first is risky and exciting, the second is safe and calm. I prefer being safe like the person at home,
because I’m more careful by nature. But I understand some people like a challenge, as shown in the
first photo.
Unit 9
1. Tell me about a recent good experience you had.
Last weekend I had a good experience. I helped a friend move to a new apartment, and we worked
5
together all day. After finishing, we celebrated with a nice dinner. I felt proud that I could help, and it
was fun to spend time with my friend.
2. Have you ever been lost? What happened?
Yes, I got lost once in a busy market. I was looking at clothes and suddenly I couldn’t find my family. I
felt a bit scared. But I asked a friendly shopkeeper for help, and she helped me call my mom. They
found me soon after and I learned to stay close.
3. What’s the most interesting story you know (like a family legend)?
My grandparents tell a family legend about a hidden treasure in our village. They say there is a cave
with gold from ancient times. I don’t know if it’s true, but it sounds exciting. I hope one day we might
find something interesting.
4. When did you last meet someone new?
I met someone new last Monday at school. A new student joined our class. We introduced ourselves
and she was very friendly. I showed her around and now she sits next to me. It was nice to make a
new friend.
5. Do you prefer true stories or fiction? Why?
I prefer true stories because I like knowing that something really happened and it teaches me a real
lesson. But I also enjoy fiction sometimes because it can be very exciting and creative. Usually I read
true stories first, and then I read novels.
6. Look at the photos. The first shows a teacher telling a story to children. The second shows a
person reading on a phone. Compare these ways of storytelling.
In the first photo, a teacher is telling a story to a group of kids. In the second photo, a person is
reading a story on a phone by themselves. The first way is personal and interactive, and people listen
together. The second way is private and convenient. I think both are good: talking face-to-face feels
special, but reading on your phone is easy and you can do it anywhere. I enjoy both methods of
getting a story.
Unit 10
1. Who is the greatest sportsman or woman in your country?
In my country, the greatest sportsman is a famous soccer player. He won many championships and
is well-known around the world. He has also helped charities and inspired young players. People
admire him because he works hard and achieved a lot.
2. Who do you look up to and why?
I look up to my older cousin because he studied hard and became an engineer. He is very intelligent
and he still spends time helping our family. I admire him because he is kind, smart, and successful in
his career.
3. What is your favorite sport or team?
My favorite sport is football. I support the national team of my country. I watch their matches on TV
and cheer for them. I also play football with my friends after school. I like football because it is
exciting and our team brings people together.
4. Have you ever met someone famous? Who?
Yes, I once met a singer at a concert. I waited after the show and got an autograph and a picture
with him. He was very friendly and thanked me for coming. It was exciting to meet someone famous
that I admire.
5. Why do you think people become famous?
People become famous usually because they are very good at something or they do something
special. For example, singers and actors become famous for their talent. Some people become
6
famous for sports or for important achievements. Sometimes it is also luck or being in the right
place at the right time.
6. Look at the photos. The first shows fans celebrating at a soccer game, and the second shows
fans at a music concert. Compare them.
In the first photo, people are celebrating and hugging after a soccer match. In the second, people
are at a music concert. Both groups of fans are very happy. I would rather be like the soccer fans
because I love sports and I like celebrating goals with friends. But music fans are having fun too,
dancing and enjoying the show. Both scenes show how excited people get for things they love.
Unit 11
1. What is your favorite hobby or interest?
My favorite hobby is playing the guitar. I love music and I practice every day. When I play songs, I feel
very relaxed. It is something I enjoy doing alone or with friends who also play music.
2. Who inspired you to learn your favorite hobby?
My father inspired me to learn guitar. He loves music and played guitar when he was young. He gave
me my first guitar for my birthday. I wanted to be like him, so I started learning and now I also teach
my little sister.
3. Are you part of a club or group for your hobby? Tell me about it.
Yes, I joined a music club at my school last year. We meet every week to practice singing and playing
instruments. There are about ten students and a teacher who helps us learn new songs. I met good
friends there and we sometimes perform at school events.
4. How do you spend your weekends or free evenings?
On weekends I often spend time on my hobbies. Usually on Saturday morning I go to the music club.
In the afternoon I might draw or paint because I also like art. In the evening, I watch sports on TV or
practice my guitar. I try to do something creative every day.
5. What new hobby would you like to try?
I would like to try photography. I think taking photos of nature and people would be interesting. I
have a phone camera now, but I want to buy a real camera. I watched some tutorials and it seems
fun to capture special moments.
6. Look at the photos. The first shows a boy playing guitar alone on the street, and the second
shows a girl singing with a microphone in front of an audience. Compare them.
In the first photo, a boy is playing guitar by himself on the street, and he looks calm. In the second
photo, a girl is singing on stage with a microphone and other band members. Playing alone can be
peaceful, but performing with others is exciting. I enjoy playing music with friends and also watching
concerts. Both ways of expressing music make me happy.
Unit 12
1. Have you ever had an unexpected good surprise? What happened?
Yes, once my parents threw me a surprise birthday party. I thought they forgot my birthday, but they
organized a party with all my friends. I was really surprised and happy. It was one of the best days I
remember.
2. What would you do if you suddenly had free time?
If I suddenly had free time, I might go for a walk or read a book. I could call a friend and meet them
for a coffee. I also like to clean my room or practice the guitar if I have extra time. It depends on how
I feel in that moment.
7
3. Do you like planning things or being spontaneous? Why?
I like a bit of both. For important tasks, I prefer planning carefully, like making a schedule for
studying. But for fun activities, I sometimes enjoy being spontaneous, like deciding to see a movie at
the last minute. Planning helps me manage my time, but surprises can be exciting too.
4. Describe something you did by chance (like picking a book at random).
Once I picked a book at random from a bookstore and it became my new favorite novel. I had never
heard of the author, but the story was amazing. By chance I discovered a great book. It showed me
that sometimes good things happen when you try something new.
5. Do you believe in luck or fate? Give an example.
I think a little luck can happen in life. For example, finding a job can depend on being in the right
place at the right time. But I also believe hard work matters more. I’m not sure if everything is fate,
because I think we can make our own choices. So I believe it’s a mix of luck and our own efforts.
6. Look at the photos. The first shows a man buying a lottery ticket. The second shows a woman
with a travel map planning a trip. What do you think?
In the first photo, the man is hoping for luck by buying a lottery ticket. In the second, the woman is
planning her trip with a map. Some people believe in luck like lottery, others prefer careful planning
like travel maps. I usually plan my trips by looking at maps, but I also enjoy small surprises. Life can
have both unexpected events and things we prepare for.
