• A computer needs a place to keep program files and


related data when they are not in use. The purpose of
storage to hold the data permanently even when
computer powered off.
• There are two main types of storage
• 1 Magnetic Storage
• 2 Optical Storage
Magnetic Storage

• A disk is round, flat object that spin around its center. Read and write heads
are used to read and write the data onto the disk.
• The device hold the disk is called disk drive.
• Ex HDD Hard disk drive.
Optical Storage

• Devices that use lasers to read data from or write data to


the reflective surface of an optical disc.
• CD-ROM drive is most common type of optical storage
device
• Compact disk (CD) is type of optical storage.
