[Link] the international business environments Harley faces.
What types of risks does Harley face?
Harley has to deal with many challenges when it goes international, like
different customer likes, strict government rules, and heavy import taxes in
some countries. In Asia people prefer smaller and cheaper bikes, while in
Europe fast bikes are more popular. The company also faces risks from tough
competitors, economic ups and downs, and even fake copies of its bikes in
some places.
[Link] does Harley benefit by expanding abroad? What types of
advantages can the firm obtain? What advantages acquired abroad
can help Harley improve its performance in its home market?
Expanding abroad helps Harley because it reduces its heavy dependence on
the U.S. market. By selling in other countries, it can reach new customers
and earn more revenue. It also learns new ways of working, gets ideas for
different bike designs, and sometimes benefits from cheaper costs. All these
things can later help Harley do better in its home market too.
[Link] can Harley effectively compete with rivals from Japan and
Europe? What strategies should management apply to grow the
firm’s sales in those regions?
To compete with Japanese and European brands, Harley has to adjust to what
riders in those regions want. For example, in Europe people like faster and
lighter bikes, so Harley can’t just sell heavy models. The company can also
use its strong brand image and Harley Owners Group to build loyalty. By
mixing tradition with local needs, Harley can grow sales there.
[Link] such as Lifan and Zongshen are beginning to emerge
from China, where they enjoy competitive advantages such as low-
cost labor and extensive experience with emerging markets. How
can Harley compete against such firms? Should Harley more
aggressively pursue emerging markets such as Brazil, China, and
India? If so, what strategies will help them succeed in those
markets?
Chinese brands like Lifan and Zongshen attract buyers with cheaper bikes,
but Harley can stand out by focusing on quality, lifestyle, and brand value.
Emerging markets like Brazil, China, and India are big opportunities because
they have huge populations and growing incomes. Harley should build local
plants to avoid tariffs and offer more affordable models while keeping its
premium image.
[Link] Harley’s environmental sustainability initiatives in the
evolving regulatory environment on global greenhouse gas. What
advantages does Harley gain by attempting to produce
environmentally safe and sustainable products?
Harley is also working on being more eco-friendly, like cutting pollution in its
factories and even developing electric motorcycles. This helps the company
meet strict environmental laws in different countries. At the same time, it
makes the brand look modern and responsible, which attracts younger and
greener customers. These steps can secure Harley’s future in the long run.
