Group Activity: Storage Conversion
Challenge
Objective:
To practice converting between digital storage units through collaboration and problem-
solving.
Instructions:
1. Divide the class into 5 groups.
2. Each group will receive a set of word problems related to storage conversions.
3. Groups must work together to solve the problems within a given time limit (15–20
minutes).
4. After solving, each group will present one solution to the class.
5. The group with the most accurate and complete answers earns bonus points or
recognition.
Group 1
1. A file is 5,120 KB. Convert it to MB.
2. A hard drive has 500 GB of data. How many MB is this?
Group 2
1. A movie is 2.5 GB in size. Convert it to MB.
2. A backup drive contains 1 TB of data. Convert it to GB.
Group 3
1. A data center stores 2 PB of information. Convert this to TB.
2. A smartphone app is 256 MB. How many KB is this?
Group 4
1. A company has 6.5 TB of data. How many GB is this?
2. An image collection takes up 12,288 MB. Convert it to GB.
Group 5
1. A researcher has 0.75 PB of data. Convert this to GB.
2. A photo album is 15,360 KB. Convert it to MB.
Extension Challenge (Optional – for all groups):
If you combine all the storage data from each group’s problems, what is the total amount of
storage in TB?
