14.0 WEATHER ROUTING SERVICE

On vessels provided with weather routing service information. It is the


Master’s responsibility to utilise this weather routing information to the best
advantage for the safety of the vessel and cargo.

 The decision whether to follow the weather routing advice rests solely
with the Master. However should the Master feel a departure from the
routing advice is necessary he should inform NSS FMD OOCL HKG and
the weather routing service company immediately of the reasons behind
his decision and his routing intentions.

 For vessels equipped with onboard weather routing guidance system, the
Master shall download the weather information as he sees fit. Operation
of the Onboard Weather Routing Guidance System shall be as per the
Operation Manual.
