2.0 BRIDGE WATCH KEEPING PROCEDURES
Masters and Watch Keeping Officers shall read the Bridge & Deck Procedures
Manual upon joining the vessel. They shall indicate that they have read and
understood the contents of the Manual by signing the Verification Signature
Page for this Manual in the Shipboard Verification Signature Manual.
The Bridge & Deck Procedures Manual is to be kept on the Bridge for the
reference of the Master and Deck Officers.
The Checklists included in the Appendix are to be completed, filed and
retained as directed on each Checklist.
2.1 Master's Order Book
Master shall state in writing in the Master's Order Book the time and
circumstances under which he is to be called and any special instructions
which he may think necessary.
• The Master shall attach his Standing Orders to the inside front cover of the
Master’s Order Book. The Master’s Standing Orders shall be read and
signed by all Bridge Watch Keeping Officers prior to them taking over
their first Bridge Watch.
• Bridge Watch Keeping Officers are to read and sign the Master’s Order
Book before taking over the watch.
• The Master’s Order Book is to be kept on the Bridge. Whenever the
Master’s Order Book is full it shall be replaced with a new Master’s Order
Book. The used Master’s Order Book shall be permanently stored in the
vessel’s Archive.
