uses two or more different modes
of making meaning.
Like words and images:
Pre-Task (20 minutes)

Work in pairs to read and answer


the questions about multimodal
texts on your handout.
Main-Task (40 minutes)
1. Look through the magazines and find 2
examples where pictures and words work
together to send a message.

2. Discuss these questions with your pair:


a) What is the message?
b) How do the image and text help tell it?
Post-Task (15 minutes)
Now let’s share our ideas as a group.
Talk about what you discussed; what
the image and text communicate and
how they work together.
