Sec: Sab
VP: Antonnet
Interview 1: JEN
Welcome everyone, we are now live at our Journals page. Today, we will interview our
SSLG officers, President (Ms. Balusdan), Vice President (Ms. Ortiz) and Secretary ( Ms.
Florendo), about the uniform policy situation of our school. So, let’s get started.
Interviewer 2: AMBER
Thank you for meeting with us, everyone. We appreciate you taking the time to discuss
the uniform policy situation.
PRES: Of course, [Link], Mr. Amber, we’re always happy to communicate with the student
body.
JEN: But before proceeding, Ms. Secretary, can you share a quick recap of the consequences of
not wearing uniform.
SEC: Yes, sure. Okay, so according to our student handbook, students are required to wear the
prescribed school uniform daily, 1st offense results in a warning, 2nd offense, meeting with the
school counsellor together with their parent and subsequent offences may lead to suspension
AMBER: Thank you for that, recently uniform violations are up. Suspensions are up. Ms.
President what’s the SSLG’s assessment of the situation?
PRES: We recognize that there’s a growing concern among students regarding the uniform’s
policy, we’re aware of the increase in violations, and we understand that some students feel the
current policy is too restrictive.
JEN: Ms. Vice president, can you provide some data on the violations? What are the most
common issues?
VP: The most frequent violations involve inappropriate footwear and incomplete uniform. We’ve
also seen an increase in students claiming financial hardship as a reason for non-compliance.
AMBER: Oh, so for some reasons is financial problem, but what’s the SSLG hearing from the
student body about the policy? What are their biggest complaints?
SEC: So far, their biggest complaint is about the cost of uniforms as a significant burden for
some families. Student also expresses that they are not comfortable of the prescribe uniform.
And the consequences are burden to them.
AMBER: With that the SSLG seems to be taking a hard line on enforcement. What’s the SSLG’s
position on the consequences for uniform violations?
PRES: We believe that the consequences should be fair, consistent and proportionate to the
offenses. We’re concerned that suspension may be too severe for minor uniform infractions,
particularly when students are facing financial challenges.
JEN: So, are you advocating for a change in the disciplinary procedures?
PRES: Yes, directly. We’re exploring alternative approaches to enforcement that prioritize
restorative justice and address the underlying causes of the uniform violations.
AMBER: What specific alternatives are you considering?
VP: We’re looking at options such as community service,School service, workshop/project that
instead of suspension they can work for the school with corresponds time. We’re also planning to
conduct donation drive/ uniform assistance especially for the students who are truly can’t afford
uniform.
JEN: Wow, that’s a great idea, but who are the possibly sources of this funding?
VP: As highest student organization, our financial resources are indeed limited. However, we’re
actively seeking partnership with local business and community organizations to secure
additional funding for uniform assistance.
AMBER: What a great support to our fellow students, but, what about the students who simply
forget to wear the correct uniform? Should they be punished as same as those who intentionally
violate the policy?
SEC: We think it’s unfair to punish someone if they don’t intentionally forget to wear their
uniform, for example, they’re in a rush. So, we think its way better to just explain the rules and
give them a warning.
JEN: With that, we truly believe that the SSLG has to negotiate with the school head or
administrators on this, what’s your strategy for getting them to agree to change that students
actually want?
PRES: We’re committed to fostering a collaborative relationship with our teachers, and our
adviser. We believe that by working together, we can find a solution that respects the needs of
students and promotes a positive learning environment for everyone.
AMBER: Thank you for your time, everyone. We appreciate your willingness to discuss this
important issue.
JEN: We’ll be following up to be updated on the uniform policy situation (Stands)
With that, that ends our discussion today with our SSLG officers. Thank you so much and
abangan ang mga susunod pa nating talakayan.
