1. What do you observe in the lesson Good Citizenship Values? Why do you say so?
- Good citizenship values talk about the ideals that shape our identity as Filipinos, the shared
values, and common goals that we yearn to achieve for our families and our country. We
Filipinos are known throughout the world for our intense work ethic, strong familial bonds, and
cheerful personalities that reflect the very nation we are a part of. The Philippines has its ups
and downs but we have always seen the good in the bad and made the best from the worst.
The citizens of the nation have been brought up to be resourceful and taught respect, to be
good citizens of the nation with the proper values to encompass and teach to the future
generation.

2. In your own words, define good citizenship values.

- Respect and camaraderie are my benchmark for good citizenship, the world has become
toxic so it is quite rare to find genuine people, sometimes if you can’t be genuine, being
understanding is enough. I respect a fellowman who respects me back and I still would
choose to respect one who does not respect me. Another important aspect of good
citizenship in my opinion is unity, unity with the country instead of against it, and compassion
to those who are unfortunate.

3. How do you show your faith in the Almighty God? According to the discussion of
MakaDiyos in this module, what is the first step that you should take to show faith in
the Almighty God?
- Follow the teachings of god, Filipinos are very spiritual we have prayed and we have been
heard countless times, fear of god is a crucial component in good citizenship and prevents
people from doing or enacting inhumane acts. There should be respect for all life along with
order to ensure chaos does not prevail. My thoughts on religion have been waning, but I still
have faith and I don’t think I will ever lose that. These days I show my faith by action, fulfilling
my duties and dreams to live life to the fullest for myself and god. In my opinion that is the
greatest accomplishment I could present to god to see live a fulfilled life till the end without
any regrets.

4. Prophet Jeremiah said ‘This is what the Almighty says: “when seventy years are
completed for Babylon, I will come to you and fulfill my gracious promise to bring you
back to this place. For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Almighty God,
“plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then
you will come upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.”’ Using the
prophecy of the Prophet Jeremiah, how do you find your present and future with the
Almighty God?
- I am thankful for yesterday, today, and for tomorrow. I choose to believe that god has great
plans but I do not limit my mindset to waiting for those plans to happen, I will move on my own
and work hard to prove that I am worthy of those great plans. I am comfortable with where I
am now in life. I could not ask for more without doing more, I am ambitious so I yearn for
more and I believe god will give me what I deserve. I have faith in him, so I continue to pursue
my dreams believing any suffering or hardship in the present will yield a greater future.

5. How can you show your respect for life?

- I treat everyone equally, but I put those who are important to me first. Naturally, the people
who have impacted my life will have a greater say than those who did not. But that does not
mean their opinions are useless. My respect for life is to not waste it doing harm to myself but
instead improving myself. Every second is a blessing, and I will use every second to the
fullest. That is respect for the life I have been given.
6. Have you ever been in love? Do you feel you are loved?
- I have loved and been in love, regardless if I love someone or if anyone loves me, I know I am
loved. It is impossible to not feel loved unless you don’t love yourself because the first person
who should love you is yourself and if you have achieved that no matter how many people
there are on the planet one person will always love you and that is or should be yourself.

7. What is your standard of love?

- I want a love that teaches me something. I want a love that is not restricted by social norms
and the opinions of others. I want a relationship wherein two people can teach one another
not just about themselves but also about their worldviews, aspirations, motivations, and skills.
A love where we work hard for our future, enjoy the simple things afterward and see
everything the world has to offer.

8. The Golden Rule says “Do unto others what you want others do unto you”. What do
you think is the standard of love if we consider this rule?
- Don’t do the things your partner or loved one would not like, or possibly “How can you want
something from someone which you have not given them” like asking someone to love you or
follow their ideals when they do not follow your ideals. If we use this as our standard of love
what we give and take must be equal which is almost impossible. In most cases there will
always be one party that loves the other more than he/she loves them, or in some cases, a
person is incapable of giving back the same magnitude of love his or her partner could. This
type of standard is not bad but it would lead to many expectations being shattered.

9. What is the importance of the environment in the development of the society? Why
do you say so?
- The environment dictates how a society will face or fare against certain events especially
calamities, an environment that has the needed resources in surplus and easy access will
have a higher chance to flourish than that which does not. A bad environment could also be
detrimental to people, it could induce stress and eventually force them to move out and seek
more optimal environments. Environments can also influence opportunities, an environment
that provides more opportunities for its people will grow faster, and the development of a
society depends on how developed its citizens are.

10. In your own ways, how can you contribute to the protection of the environment from its
threats?
- Be more vigilant, and follow the environmental rules that the local government imposes. A
small act can make a big difference, one could also consider influencing others to follow the
movement either by making public ads or organizing environmental cleanups.
Task 2
1. Cite personal incidents / moments in your life that you feel you have become:
a. Maka-Diyos
- I experienced the death of my mother and it shattered me, when I was in the ambulance with
her, I prayed and prayed, and I could not help to wonder If at that moment anyone prayed for
us. That is why I have committed myself to cite a short prayer for every ambulance siren I
hear, there could be a kid in there with his/her parents praying for safety. Sometimes all it
takes is a prayer for someone to not be taken.
b. Makatao
- Whenever I have spare change I will give it to beggars, perhaps it is not something that a lot
of people will consider “Makatao” but life has given me multiple chances and I should give
others a chance too, giving someone your change can change their day.

c. Makakalikasan
- I used to take care of plants when my mother had a garden shop, I guess it’s also why I like
botany now. I had this one sunflower named Ei. It was a giant sunflower that I took care of.

d. Makabansa/makabayan
- I once represented the Philippines for a UN event in my middle school, it was an international
school and I guess it felt nice to be able to represent the country in front of people even
though it was just a simple event.

2. Explain the details. What have you learned and realized out from that experience?
- These experiences have given me awareness and ultimately honed my personality, I would
not be me if these experiences did not happen to me. Especially in Part A, I learned to be a
little more compassionate for others.

Task 3: Instructions:
1. Identify at least five (5) strengths of Filipino character that you think you possess.
Why do you say so?
- Particularism, Familialism, Hardwork and Industry, Ability to Survive, Pakikipagkapwa-tao

- I'm very particular with what I do and how people perceive them so I always consider others
because of my hardworking nature and my strong sense of family. The end goal for me has
always been to suffer now so that my family won't have to suffer as much as I have, and I
have survived every problem the world has thrown at me and even thrived despite the
damage. The ability to cooperate and see through people has also been a very useful trait for
building connections.
2. Identify at least five (5) weaknesses of Filipino character that you think you
possess. What are the steps do you take to change these weaknesses into strength?
- Bahala Na, Ningas Kugon, Lack of Discipline, Lack of Self-analysis and Self – Reflection,
Extreme Personalism

- Bahala na mindset has always been there along with lack of discipline and “Ningas Kugon”
These three are like a package and have been a burden to me ever since, lately I have
developed an awareness of these feelings which has allowed me to discern when I need to
push through, whenever I feel like “Bahala na” that’s my cue to do better and break my limits.
The lack of self-analysis and personalism encouraged me to start making a diary to track my
thoughts and also a wallet tracker to make sure I'm not overspending or saving, I encourage
myself to let loose now and then and not be greedy.

Our nation has suffered, Our nation has survived, now and forever. Despite the calamities and the
tragedies, we have always pulled through, the indomitable spirit of us Filipinos is truly outstanding.
The sun in our flag reflects the ever-shining hope we have for our future. And the freedom we have
fought for and so rightly deserve, we stand as tall as the mountains and our dreams soar as high as
the eagles. As we dance among the clouds united under one flag, my country my family.
