ESSAY: Pros and Cons of Self-Study
Independent learning is becoming increasingly popular. Self-study allows
learners to study at their own pace without the need for a teacher or mentor.
However, self-study has both its advantages and disadvantages.
Firstly, self-study gives learners the freedom to decide what to study and
how. It also promotes responsibility by allowing learners to set their own
goals and make plans to achieve them. Secondly, self-study can make
learners more confident in their abilities to complete tasks independently.
Finally, self-study can be a cost-effective choice to traditional education, as
learners can save money on tuition and other expenses.
On the other hand, learners may struggle to learn things on their own and
may need more time to understand concepts without the guidance of a
teacher. Additionally, learners may not develop certain life skills, such as
good communication and relationship skills. Finally, learners may not learn
practical skills if they focus too much on learning academic skills.
In conclusion, self-study has both pros and cons. Learners should understand
both and find a balance between the two. As education is changing all the
time, it is important for learners to get used to the challenges of self-study
and take advantage of the benefits it offers.
Cyberbullying
Cyberbullying has become a serious issue nowadays because of the
widespread use of social media and the internet among young people. It can
have a severe impact on students' mental health, leading to low self-esteem,
anxiety, and depression. There are some ways that help students avoid being
cyberbullied.
Firstly, schools should have campaigns that will target all students in the
school. The main activities will include talks about cyberbullying,
workshops on online safety and responsible online behavior, and inviting
students to share their experiences of cyberbullying in a safe and supportive
environment. Besides, teachers encourage students to inform about
cyberbullying if they know that their friends are bullied. Therefore, the
victims can be supported immediately. Additionally, teachers and parents
have to teach young people how to behave well when they are on the
internet. This prevents them from the risk of being bullied. The other way to
avoid being cyberbullied is that students must know about online safety
privacy settings for themselves. They can ask for help from other friends or
their teachers if they do not know about these settings.
Letter of Enquiry
Dear Sir / Madam,
I am writing to enquire about the tour guide training courses offered by SGV
Vocational School. I am very interested in exploring different cultures and
would like to know more about the courses.
Firstly, I would like to ask if there is a test requirement to enrol in the tour
guide training courses. As I do not have any previous qualifications in this
field, I would like to know if there are any specific requirements for
admission.
Secondly, I would appreciate it if you could inform me if SGV Vocational
School offers any discounts for students who are financially disadvantaged.
This would greatly assist me in planning for the cost of the training.
Lastly, I would like to enquire about the daily wage for the apprenticeships
provided by SGV Vocational School. It would be great if you could provide
me with more information about this opportunity.
Thank you for considering my request. I look forward to hearing from you
soon.
Yours faithfully,
Lan
