MOUSE
-A mouse is an input device that controls the direction of a pointer
-it has three buttons:
1. Right button
2. Left button
[Link] button

KEYBOARD
A keyboard is an input device that is used to enter data in a computer
It has the following keys
1. Numerical keys-Used to enter numbers in a computer
2. Cursor keys- controls the direction of a cursor either up, down, right, left
3. Alpha-numerical keys- used to enter texts, numbers, and symbols
4. Functional keys (F1-F12)
5. Escape key- Used to close dialog boxes
6. Special keys
MONITOR
Monitor is an output device that displays the information in the computer
It has the following features
1. Icons
2. Pointer
3. Start button
4. taskbar
5. Background
6. Users

CPU/SYSTEM UNIT
-A CPU is a central processing unit
-It is the heart of the computer
-It is where storage devices e.g. RAM (Random Access Memory),ROM (Read Only Memory),
HARDSISK are housed
- It has ports for cable connections
-It helps in converting of data into information

CABLES
 VGA cable-it is a video graphics array cable that transfers the stored information from the
CPU to the monitor
 Power cable-supplies power to the computer
 Mouse cable-connects mouse to the system unit
 Keyboard cable-it connects keyboard to the system unit
ELEMENTS OF A COMPUTER
1. Hardware: these refers to physical and touchable components of a computer system
Types:
A. System hardware: computer parts
B. Peripheral hardware: these are devices connected to a computer to help it complete a
certain task e.g. printer
2. Software: these refers to instructions or programs installed in a computer
Types
A. System software: these are programs that are permanently installed by computer
manufacturer e.g. notepad, calculator, WordPad etc
B. Application software: these are programs installed by the computer user e.g. office ,
graphic design, accounting software etc
3. Userware: the person operating a computer
