2. An aqueous feed solution of 1000 kg/h containing 23.5 wt% acetone and 76.

is being extracted in a counter-current multistage extraction system using pure TCA
(trichloroethane) as a solvent. The outlet water raffinate will contain 2.5 wt% acetone.

2.1 Calculate the minimum amount of solvent that can be used if the extraction is carried out
