K:Good morning, Alex! Thank you for joining us today. How are you?

L: Good morning, Mr. kam! I’m doing well, thank you. I’m really excited about this opportunity
with HKFYG.

K: Great to hear! Let’s get started. Could you briefly introduce yourself and tell us why you’re
interested in this role?

L Certainly! I recently graduated with a degree in Social Work from HKU. During my studies, I
volunteered with several youth programmes, where I discovered my passion for empowering
young people. I’d love to contribute my skills in programme planning and digital tools while
growing as a youth worker.

K That’s a strong start. You mentioned digital tools—could you share how you’ve used
technology, like AI, in your work or studies?

L Absolutely! For my final-year project, I designed a chatbot to provide mental health resources
for teens. I used basic AI tools to tailor responses based on keywords. It wasn’t perfect, but it
taught me how technology can make youth services more accessible.

K Impressive initiative! How would you adapt that experience to HKFYG’s work?

L I’d love to explore how AI could streamline the organisation’s outreach—maybe automating
FAQs on social media to free up staff for deeper engagement. But I’d first listen to the team’s
needs to ensure it adds value.

K Let’s say you’re organising a workshop for disengaged youth, but only three attendees show
up. How would you handle it?

L First, I’d connect with the attendees personally to understand their interests. Then, I’d turn it
into an informal discussion rather than a lecture. Later, I’d review our promotion
strategy—maybe we didn’t use the right platforms or messaging.

K Good approach. What if a participant seems withdrawn during the session?

LI’d avoid singling them out but might use icebreakers in pairs. If they’re still quiet, I’d check in
privately afterward to see if they’re comfortable or need adjustments.

K Our organization values resilience. Can you share a time you faced a setback and how you
bounced back?
L When my university event was cancelled due to protests, I moved it online last-minute.
Attendance was low, but I learned to pivot quickly and focus on quality over quantity. It taught
me to stay adaptable.

K That’s the spirit we look for. Any questions for us?

L How does HKFYG support trainees in finding their niche within the organisation?

K Great question! Through rotations, mentorship, and feedback sessions, we help you explore
your strengths—whether it’s programme design, advocacy, or tech innovation.

K Alex, I appreciate your passion and problem-solving skills. You’re clearly creative and
resilient—key traits for this role. We’d love to offer you the position!

To grow further, work on projecting confidence when discussing your achievements. You
undersold your AI project—it’s a strong selling point! Also, consider how to scale small-group
strategies for larger impact.

L Thank you so much! I’ll definitely take your advice to heart.

K Welcome to HKFYG! We’ll send the formal offer by Friday. Enjoy the rest of your day.
