Question1

Simulation of a Queuing system with a single server: A doctor's office has one nurse and one
doctor. Patients arrive randomly. Each patient first goes through a check-up with the nurse
and then proceeds for a full check-up by the doctor. Patients may have to wait before being
served by the nurse and before being served by the doctor; Service priority is first-in-first-out
(FIFO).
The service time by the nurse is always 8 minutes, but the service time of the doctor is
random. The distribution of the time between arrivals (interarrival times) and the service time
of the doctor are given below.
Time between Arrival Probability RND No
(Min) Mapping
5 0.50 0-49
10 0.30 50-79
15 0.20 80-99

Doctors Service Time Probability RND No

(Min) Mapping
4 0.30 0-49
8 0.50 50-79
12 0.20 80-99
Use simulation to compute the average time a patient spends in the doctor's office from
arrival till he leaves.
NB:
RND for Nurse: 60, 36, 50, 3, 37, 30, 38, 63, 66, 43
RND for Doctor: 83, 27, 77, 22, 86, 33, 74, 34, 30, 58
