Geometry Introduction

The three angles of a triangle add up to 180°.

Types of Angles:

Right Angle Measures 90°

Straight Angle Measures 180° and


forms a straight line

Acute Angle Measures less than 90°

Obtuse Measures more than


90° but less than 180°

Reflex Angle Measures more than


180° but less than 360°

Triangles can be classified by angle:


Right Triangle Has one angle that
measures exactly 90°

Acute Triangle All three angles


measure less than 90°

Obtuse Triangle One angle is greater


than 90°

Triangles can be classified by side:

Equilateral Triangle All three sides are the


same length (each
angle measures 60°)

Scalene All three sides are


different lengths

Isosceles Triangle Two sides have the


same length (two
angles have equal
measure)
