Grade 10 Assembly Script – Ethical Journalism

Harshitha:
"Good morning to our respected Principal, teachers, and dear friends. We warmly welcome you
all to Grade 10’s assembly, where we focus on a topic that shapes the foundation of our society
— ethical journalism."
Arya:
"Journalism is a powerful tool. It informs the public, holds the powerful accountable, and
protects the truth. As we explore this important responsibility today, let’s first begin by seeking
Allah’s blessings."
Harshitha:
"I would now like to invite Hannan for the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by its translation
by Lakshya."
[(Pause for Quran recitation and translation)]
Arya:
"Thank you for the meaningful recitation and translation. The Quran teaches us the importance
of honesty, fairness, and responsibility — the very principles that guide ethical journalism."
Harshitha
I would like to invite Umar for sharing the thought of the day

Arya:
It means real journalism isn’t always comfortable — it reveals the truth, even when it’s
inconvenient or unpopular.
Harshitha:
Exactly. But revealing the truth doesn’t mean invading someone’s privacy. There’s a fine line —
and that’s where ethics come in.
Arya:
"To help us understand this better, we now present a skit set inside a newsroom, showing how
journalists make ethical decisions and how those choices affect the world around us."
Rima (smiling as anchor):
"Good evening, this is Rima reporting for NewsFirst. Today we take you to Delhi’s urban areas
where, despite the odds, life is thriving thanks to the wonderful efforts of Minister Rohit!"
Zoha (on screen, live from slum area):
"I’m here in Wazipur. slum area. The residents are happy and grateful for the support they’ve
received. Let’s talk to one of them. Sir, can you tell us how life is here?"
Naman (nervous):
"Yes… it's okay. We have food. And the Minister… he helps us. Everything is fine."
Zoha (nodding):
"You heard it, folks. Proof that the system works when good leaders care."
Rima:
"Uplifting stories like these remind us that sometimes, the media should celebrate what’s
working. That’s all for tonight."
🔥 Scene 2: TrueNews Studio – Truth Comes Out
Punya (serious tone):
"Good evening. I’m Punya, and this is TrueNews. Tonight, we bring you a very different view of
the same story covered just days ago."
(Footage shows slums covered by giant green sheets, with smoke in background)
Riyansh (field reporter, with Arnav as cameraperson):
"We’re standing in Wazipur. slum, where green sheets were put up during the international
summit to hide these communities from foreign delegates. Why? Because days ago, a fire broke
out during a landslide — four children died. No aid. No justice. Just silence."
Krish (protester, yelling in background):
"They told us to smile! They covered our homes like we were garbage. Our pain didn’t fit their
image — so they hid it!"
Punya (back in studio):
"These voices were missing from the earlier reports. Why? Because the media failed to ask real
questions."
Scene 3: The Ethical Debate – Panel Discussion
Aqsa (moderator, serious tone):
"Good evening. Today’s panel asks: What is the cost of hiding the truth? Just days before the
summit, a fire tore through Wazipur. Four children died — but instead of grieving, the media
showed smiles."
Aqsa (turns to Minister Rohit):
"Minister, how do you explain the green sheets and the silence around the fire?"
Raeed
"The green sheets were for summit security. The fire was tragic, but we acted where we could.
No official complaints were filed."
Krish (angrily):
"No one complained because no one listens! We were told to act happy — while we buried
children!"
Raeed
"We were focused on ensuring national dignity in front of global delegates. I won't apologize for
doing my duty. The fire was tragic — but local authorities were expected to handle it. We cannot
politicize every incident.”
Aqsa (firmly):
"Let’s hear from those who lost the most — the parents of the children who died."
Sriram (father, emotional):
"My son dreamed of becoming a doctor. He died in the fire… and the world looked away."
Neha (mother, holding back tears):
"We begged for help. Instead, they told us to stay quiet — to keep the city’s image clean."
Raeed
With all due respect, emotions cannot drive national policy. We have a country to represent —
sometimes that means difficult decisions are made for the greater good.”
Nithya (softly but clearly):
"We didn’t just lose our children. We lost our trust. In our leaders… and in the media."
Rima (defensive):
"We reported what the ministry told us. We didn’t know—"
Punya (sharply):
"And that’s the failure. Journalism means digging deeper — not repeating press releases."
Naman (quietly):
"I smiled on camera… even after the fire. Because I was scared. Because they told me to."
Aqsa (concluding, voice steady):
"This isn’t just about news. It’s about truth. When we choose image over honesty, real people
suffer. Ethical journalism is about giving voice to the unheard — not silencing pain.”
