Comprehension Passage
Why flies trouble cows
One day, the king gave a party for all the animals. He told cow to sit at the
head of the table, because she was the biggest animal present and should share
out the food. Cow agreed to do so.
But when she passed out the first course, she forgot fly because he was so
small. When fly saw this, he complained to cow who replied him, Be patient!
When the second course arrived, cow also said Be patient! When the third
course arrived, fly called out again. But cow just pointed to her own eye and told
fly to look these, and he would get food later. In the end, fly went to bed without
food. The next day, fly complained to the king. The king thought that cow had
done wrong not to give fly a share.
So he told fly that in future, he should always get his food from cow’s eyes
because that was where she had pointed. To this day, flies are still looking for
food from cow’s eyes.
