Linear Vibration Analysis
Lecture 01
Dept. of Mech, Energy and Robotics Eng.
1
Course Information:
- Questions: any time by email and after class
- Grades will be based on a numerical average
calculated with the following weightings:
•Midterm test = 40%
•Final Examination = 50%
•Homework = 10%
•My opinion of you as a vibrations engineer +10%
- Tests will be given on the dates indicated. Makeup
tests will not be given except in special cases arranged
before the test date.
- Homework will be posted on eclass.

Course Information:
•Text: Elements of Vibration Analysis, L. Meirovitch,
•Computer Code: You will be required to use the
some version of MATLAB to solve Homework Problems.
Other codes are permissible, please see me if you are
not going to use MATLAB.
•Prerequisites: The material here draws heavily from
differential equations, dynamics and system dynamics.
Your texts from these courses and the other Vibrations
texts are good places to go for help.

More Course Information:
•Course notes will be provided on eclass web sites.
•You might like to print out the notes beforehand
and bring them to class
•The notes are incomplete and will only include
partially drawn figures and equations. The idea is
for you to complete them during class. In addition,
other information will be presented on the board.
•Tests usually contain home work problems and
examples taken from the text and modifications
there of.
PLEASE ASK QUESTIONS DURNING THE LECTURES
