Project Synopsis Format

• Synopsis, preferably, should be of about 4-5 pages.

• The content should be as brief as is sufficient enough to explain the objective and
implementation of the project.
• The write up/document must adhere to the guidelines and should include the following:

1. Name (Group Name) and Title of the Project

2. Problem of Statement

3. Objective and scope of the project

4. Methodology

5. Hardware & Software to be used

6. Application and Future Scope of the Project

7. References/Bibliography.

Following contents have to be taken into consideration in synopsis:

Group Details: You should mentioned your project group members details like Registration,
Branch/Sem,Name, Mobile, with this report.

Title/Topic of the Project: This should be explicitly mentioned at the beginning of the Synopsis.
Since the topic itself gives an insight into the project to be taken up, the student is suggested to
be reasonable on the name/title of the project. The title being the overall impression on the
complete work, the topic should substantiate the work.

Objective and Scope: This should give a clear picture and final outcome of the project. Objectives
should be clearly specified. What the project ends up to and in what way it is going to help the end
user has to be mentioned. Font Style Times New Roman and Font Size 14
Process Description: The process of the whole software system proposed, to be developed,
should be mentioned in brief. This has to be supported by DFD's/ Flowcharts/UML Diagrams to
explain the flow of the data and control in the project.

Resources and Limitations: The requirement of the resources for designing and developing the
proposed system must be given. The resources might be in form of the hardware / software or
real time data. The limitations of the proposed system in respect of a larger and comprehensive
system must be given in the synopsis itself.

Conclusion: The document must end with the concluding remarks-briefly describing innovations
in implementing the project and also any other important feature that makes the system stands
out from the rest.

References and bibliography: The complete list of books (chapter listing, topic listing), website
links (complete URLs) and research papers (title and authors, year of publications) have to be
mentioned.

Sample format of References:

of the synopsis (if asked):

Question 1:- What are the strengths and limitations of your proposed work?

Question 2:- Explain in at least 100 words what will be the positive impact of the project on
society/academics/college/industry.

In a project synopsis, considerations regarding resources and limitations are critical to ensure realistic planning and execution of the project. Detailing the resources involves identifying the necessary hardware, software, and real-time data required for the project's design and development. Acknowledging limitations involves recognizing constraints related to resources, time, or technology that might impact the project's scope or outcomes. Including these elements is important because it provides transparency about potential challenges and prepares the team to address them proactively. It helps in managing expectations and ensures efficient allocation of available resources to maximize the project's success .

Innovations play a significant role in the conclusion of a project synopsis by highlighting unique approaches and novel solutions implemented in the project. By briefly describing these innovations, the project can stand out from similar works, showcasing originality and creative problem-solving. Highlighting innovations enhances the project’s appeal by demonstrating its added value, potential for impact, and contribution to the field. This focus on innovative elements can attract interest from stakeholders or potential investors aware of the project's competitive edge and innovative methodologies .

The objectives and scope section of a project synopsis is crucial as it provides a clear picture and articulates the expected final outcome of the project. This section outlines the specific goals the project aims to achieve, the boundaries within which the work will be conducted, and the aspects that will be addressed. By clearly specifying the objectives, this section helps the reader understand what the project aims to accomplish and the potential impact on end-users. It sets the direction for the project, ensuring all efforts are aligned towards achieving the specified goals .

It is essential to explicitly mention the project's title at the beginning of the synopsis because the title provides a first impression of the work and encapsulates the essence of the project. A well-thought-out title can offer insight into the project's scope and goals, thus preparing the reader for what to expect in the rest of the document. The title sets the tone and context and helps align the reader's expectations with the project's deliverables. The clarity and relevance of the title also enhance the professional presentation of the synopsis, reflecting thoroughness and attention to detail .

Exploring the future scope in a project synopsis can significantly influence stakeholder interest and potential funding opportunities by demonstrating long-term viability and the capacity for growth. By outlining how the project's outcomes could be expanded or adapted to address additional challenges or sectors, it provides a forward-looking perspective that appeals to stakeholders' strategic interests. A well-defined future scope indicates the project's potential for sustained impact and broader applicability, which can attract funding and support. It assures stakeholders of the project's relevance beyond its initial objectives, suggesting opportunities for continuous innovation and commercial application .

Including Data Flow Diagrams (DFDs), flowcharts, or UML diagrams in a project synopsis is significant because these visual aids help to explain the flow of data and control within the software system being developed. They provide a clear and systematic representation of the processes and can simplify complex information, making it easier for stakeholders to understand how data moves through the system. These diagrams help to identify potential inefficiencies or bottlenecks in the design and support effective communication across team members and stakeholders, ensuring everyone has a shared understanding of the system's functionality and structure .

In a project synopsis, the methodology section is crucial as it outlines the processes, tools, and techniques to be employed to achieve the project's objectives. This section serves as a bridge between what the project intends to accomplish and how it plans to do so. By providing a detailed plan of action, including stages of development and testing, the methodology helps ensure that the project is systematic, reproducible, and adheres to standard practices. It aligns the team with a cohesive strategy, facilitating efficient resource use and allowing for scalability and adaptability in response to unforeseen challenges .

References and bibliography play a critical role in a project synopsis by providing a complete list of sources that informed and supported the project's development. These elements are crucial for maintaining academic integrity, as they allow the authors to credit the original ideas and work of others that have contributed to their project. Proper citation helps to avoid plagiarism, demonstrating the authors' ethical responsibility and respect for intellectual property. It also provides readers with resources for further study, enhancing the project's credibility and depth by showcasing the extensive research underpinning the work .

Detailing the problem statement in a project synopsis is of paramount importance as it sets the foundation for the entire project. A well-articulated problem statement clearly defines the issue that the project intends to address, ensuring that all stakeholders have a shared understanding of the project's purpose. This clarity helps in aligning project activities with intended outcomes, maintaining focus throughout the project's lifecycle. It guides the direction of the research and development efforts, helping to identify relevant methodologies and resources necessary to solve the problem effectively .

Standardizing the font style and size in a project synopsis is necessary for maintaining professionalism and enhancing readability. Using a consistent font style like Times New Roman and a standard font size, such as 14, gives the document a uniform appearance and ensures that it is easy to read. Consistent formatting helps in avoiding distractions and enables the reader to focus on the content. This uniformity reflects attention to detail and adherence to professional standards, boosting the document's credibility and making it more appealing to evaluators or stakeholders .
