Why did you choose this research topic?
Ans: The main purpose of this study was to determine the criminology
students’ level of awareness of the PNP services and their untoward
practices. Level of awareness of the criminology students of the
PNP services along: a. Social Services; b. Crime Prevention; and
c. Crime Investigation
How relevant is your study to the community, institution?
Ans: This study is relevant to the community and institution as it provides valuable
insights into how Philippine National Police personnel perceive social, crime prevention,
and crime investigation services. For the community, the findings may guide initiatives
that strengthen public safety and trust in law enforcement. For the institution,
particularly MATS College of Technology, the results can help improve criminology
education by aligning academic instruction with the practical perspectives of law
enforcement professionals.
What problem or gap does your study aim to address?
Ans: Although criminology perception has been widely discussed in criminology
education and law enforcement literature, there is limited research specifically
examining the perceptions of Philippine National Police (PNP) personnel regarding social,
crime prevention, and crime investigation services within academic institutions. Existing
studies often focus on operational effectiveness, community policing, or general crime
statistics, but they rarely investigate how police officers perceive criminology-related
functions when assessed in a college setting such as MATS College of Technology. This
creates a gap in understanding the alignment between academic criminology training
and the practical insights of law enforcement officers.
Can you justify the significance of your research?
Ans: it bridges the gap between criminology education and law enforcement practice. By
assessing the perceptions of Philippine National Police personnel on social, crime
prevention, and crime investigation services at MATS College of Technology, the study
provides a deeper understanding of how academic training aligns with the realities of
policing. The findings can serve as a basis for curriculum enhancement, policy
development, and stronger collaboration between academic institutions and law
enforcement agencies. Ultimately, it contributes to producing criminology graduates who
are more competent, community-oriented, and responsive to the needs of society

Ans: What is the level of awareness of the criminology students of the PNP services

How do your objectives align with your problem statement?
Ans: The objectives of this study directly align with the problem statement because both
focus on addressing the gap in understanding determine the criminology
students’ level of awareness of the PNP services and their untoward
practices; social service, crime prevention, and crime investigation services. The
problem identifies the lack of research in this area, and the objectives were crafted to
systematically measure and analyze these perceptions, ensuring that the study provides
solutions to the stated research gap.

How is your study different from or similar to existing studies?
Ans: This study is similar to existing studies in the sense that it also examines perceptions
of law enforcement and criminology-related services. However, it is different because
most previous research focuses on general policing effectiveness, crime statistics, or
community-based perceptions, while this study specifically explores the perceptions of
Philippine National Police personnel within the academic context of MATS College of
Technology. This unique focus bridges academic criminology education and practical law
enforcement insights, which has not been widely studied.
Why did you choose this particular theoretical/conceptual framework?
Ans: This theory explains how the shared values, beliefs, and practices within the
Philippine National Police. The PNP's internal culture, including norms and rituals, affects
how officers interact with communities and uphold ethical standards in their duties of
social services, crime prevention, and investigation.
A Venn diagram was utilized to visualize the relationship between and among the
variables. The independent variables, namely (A) the Criminology Students Level of
Awareness towards the PNP Services along Social Services, Crime Prevention, and Crime
Investigation, and (B) the Criminology Students' Level of Awareness of the Untoward
Practices of the PNP, are laid on two opposing circles and intersect in the middle,
forming a convex lens wherein the dependent variable consisting of the(1)
profile of the respondents in terms of sex, age, ethnicity, and religion is
inserted. With this paradigm, it showed the relationship between A and 1, and
Band 1 as indicated in numbers 4 and 5 in the Statement of the Problem of this study.

4. Scope and Delimitation
What is the coverage of your study (place, participants)?
Ans: this study will be conducted at Mats College of Technology and the criminology
students are the specific target on this research.
What is your scope and delimitation?
Ans: In order to make a valid contribution to this investigation, it is necessary to define
the parameters of the study. The following delimitations were applied to the study:
This study is limited to the enrolled 1st to 4th year students of the College of Criminal
Justice Education only, MATS College of Technology.
It is also limited to the demographic profile of the respondents, such as sex, age,
ethnicity, and religion.
This study only evaluated the criminology students’ level of awareness of the PNP
services and their untoward practices.
5. Methodology
What research design will you use, and why?
Ans: The study used a descriptive-correlational design. It is appropriate for studies that
seek to find out the relationship between and among variables.
How will you gather your data (tools, instruments, procedures)?
Ans: a three-part survey questionnaire. Part 1 dealt with collecting the respondents’
profiles such as sex, age, ethnicity, and religion. Part 2 consisted of the student’s level of
awareness of the PNP services along with social services, crime prevention, and crime
investigation. Moreover, Part 3 involved the students’ level of awareness of the
untoward practices of the PNP.
Who are your respondents/participants, and how will you select them?
Ans: The number of respondents was based on the total BS Criminology students of
MATS College of Technology. To determine the respondents the researchers, use ratio
and proportion using 30 % respondents of the total population. Formula, where N is the
total population of students, n is the equal to the number of sample and 30% is the ratio
and then the researcher get the total number of respondents which are n students.
