Lab #6

" Thermo -strength calculation of a hollow thick-walled cylinder in a

three-dimensional setting"

1 Purpose of work

thermo -strength analysis in a three-dimensional setting .

2 Statement of the problem and assumptions made

The outer surface of a cylinder with a radius of 0.1 m is maintained at a

temperature of 20 °C. The inner surface with a radius of 0.03 m - at a temperature
of 300 °C. The length of the cylinder is 0.2 m. Let us consider the stresses arising
far from the ends of the cylinder. Only one quarter of the cylinder is modelled.
When solving the problem, an eight-node Brick 70 thermal element and a Brick 45
strength element are used. The example is intended to study the methodology for
solving problems of this type.
