CHAPTER II
RESEARCH METHODS AND PROCEDURES
This chapter presents and discusses the research design, research environment, the
respondents of the study, the sampling technique and procedure, the data gathering
procedures, and the statistical treatment for data analysis and interpretation.
RESEARCH METHOD
The descripted-survey method is used in this analysis. Descriptive research involves
collecting data to test theories or answer questions about the current condition of the study
subjects (Prieto et al., 2017). The research is survey as this analysis is quantitative in which the
researcher administers a survey questionnaire pertaining to the factors affecting the academic
performance of the accountancy students of Saint Vincent’s College Incorporated in this new
normal. This research is carried out in the academic year.
RESPONDENTS OF THE STUDY
The subject of the study are the Bachelor of Science in Accountancy students of Saint Vincent’s
College Incorporated, Dipolog City.
DATA COLLECTION INSTRUMENTS
The researcher developed a survey material to gather data on the respected variable and sub-
problems. Questions in the survey are based from the researcher’s perception on the factors
affectingacademic performance. The formulated questionnaire consists the list of factors that
might contribute to academic performance of the students and these factors are group
according to their relevance. These questions are group into (teacher related, student related,
home related, …)
DATA COLLECTION PROCEDURES
The researchers determined the number of the BSA students enrolled in the second semester
based on the record in the College of Accountancy. The questionnaire was distributed to the
BSA students through google forms. Afterwards, the data was gathered, and then tabulated,
analyzed and interpreted, utilizing the survey questionnaire. 2021-2022.
DATA ANALYSIS PLAN
The data collected were carefully tabulated, classified, analyzed and interpreted with the use
of appropriate statistical tool. Appropriate descriptive and inferential statistics are used
namely:
