My name is Tommie Jackson.
Currently, I work in a government role primarily focused on
cybersecurity. My role includes protecting critical digital assets, while ensuring the integrity of
information systems. On a daily basis, I am focused on identifying vulnerabilities, mitigating
risks and strengthening protocols to safeguard sensitive data from cyber threats. Outside of work,
I enjoy basketball and weightlifting. The activities help me to stay active and maintain discipline,
both physically and mentally. The strategic thinking required in basketball and the perseverance
virtue needed in weightlifting aligns with the problem-solving skills essential for cybersecurity
operations.
Primarily, this course on Information Assurance: Assessment and Evaluation will help deepen
my understanding of information assurance, incident response and security standards. Following
the increased complexity of cyber threats, I am focused on refining my expertise in security
methodologies, risk assessment and digital asset protection. Earning this degree will facilitate
positioning me as a key player, while enhancing my ability to address cybersecurity challenges
in my role. This will also facilitate my positioning for future career growth into government
cybersecurity operations. The course also aligns with my career roles, since I aspire to take on
more strategic cybersecurity roles within the government. The course will better equip me to
tackle complex security challenges, and support the development of robust security frameworks.
Throughout the course, I look forward to gaining advanced insights into cryptography, corporate
security, cybercrime and international security policies. This will ensure I can effectively secure
and manage critical digital assets in an increasingly digital world.
