ENTRY TEST SAMPLE QUESTION PAPER

The Admissions Entry Test will include five sections meant for testing critical reasoning, reading
comprehension, numerical fluency, English expressions and general awareness of the students.
The assessment will also include an interview by panel members of the university. This
document provides an introduction to all five sections of the test along with practice questions.

The test does not require you to spend time on extensive preparation for rule-based mathematics,
general knowledge or English grammar correction that would not be used in a business context.
We only require you to familiarize yourself with the format of the test and refresh your verbal
and quantitative skills by practicing the questions contained within this document.

Instructions:

1. Read the instructions given at the beginning of a section or group of questions very
carefully.
2. The total time for the test is 150 Minutes (2.5 hours). Each section has estimated time so
you can finish in stipulated time.
3. You are expected to show your competence in all the sections.
4. There will be no negative marking. You can navigate to any question of your choice.
5. You may use non-scientific calculator, scientific calculator and uses of cell phone of any
kind is prohibited during entry test.

Section 2 – Reading Comprehension

Passage:
One of the most hazardous conditions a firefighter will ever encounter is a backdraft (also
known as a smoke explosion). A backdraft can occur in the hot-smoldering phase of a fire
when burning is incomplete and there is not enough oxygen to sustain the fire. Unburned

carbon particles and other flammable products, combined with the intense heat, may cause
instantaneous combustion if more oxygen reaches the fire.
Firefighters should be aware of the conditions that indicate the possibility for a backdraft to
occur. When there is a lack of oxygen during a fire, the smoke becomes filled with carbon
dioxide or carbon monoxide
and turns dense gray or black. Other warning signs of a potential backdraft are little or no
visible flame, excessive heat, smoke leaving the building in puffs, muffled sounds, and
smoke-stained windows.
Proper ventilation will make a backdraft less likely. Opening a room or building at the
highest point allows heated gases and smoke to be released gradually. However, suddenly
breaking a window or opening a door is a mistake, because it allows oxygen to rush in,
causing an explosion.
