About the workshop:

CSE department has organised “One day workshop” for supporting students as an initiative by
IQAC. This workshop was arranged to serve one of the objectives of IQAC that is enhancing
institutional and system management effectiveness.
Date and Venue:
The workshop took place on 03rd August 2021 and 04th August 2021 at GMIT in Department of
Computer Science and Engineering. The Organizing team arrived at the venue one hour before,
on 03rd August 2021, in order to meet for fine-tuning of the agenda and coordination of
facilitation.

● How to Learn Java
● Setting Up Your Development Environment
● Java Basics
● Object-Oriented Programming (OOP)

● Arithmetic and Relational Operators.
● Arrays.
● Strings.
● Multi-Level Break.
● Memory Management and Garbage Collection.
● The Background Garbage Collector.
● Integrated Thread Synchronization.

Agenda:
A Java project is a small or large-scale programming endeavour for achieving a specific purpose,
such as automating repetitive tasks, testing functionality and creating recreational or informative
applications. Examples of Java projects include digital clocks, interactive websites and mobile
games.
Training Team & Organizing Team:
The member of the training team was Dr. Smitha Shekar B, associate professor, dept of CSE,
AIT, Bengaluru
Organizing Committee members of GMIT in CSE department were Prof. VIJAY KUMAR M S
Associate Professor, Event Coordinator.
The program co-ordinators were Prof. Leenashruthi, Associate Professor, Prof. Pradeep B M -
Assistant professor, Prof. Prasanna G - Assistant professor, Prof. Krupa Sagar G - Assistant
professor.
Outcomes from the Workshop:
After attending this workshop, students were be able to 1. Understand fundamentals of object-
oriented programming in Java, including defining classes, interfaces, creating objects, invoking
methods, using packages etc.

2. Have the ability to write a computer program to solve specified problems.
Concluding Remarks:
Mastering Java requires time, dedication, and practice. By following a well-rounded learning
plan, exploring essential topics, and utilizing the best resources, you can become a proficient
