INTRODUCTION
The students of Benguet National High School has continuously engaged in
academic research and community based projects that promote learning and
education. Recently, the Grade 12 students have gained the experience to undertake
projects that will enhance other students access to knowledge and resources. The
project proposal aims for the creation of a mini library for each classroom of grade 7.
This project reflects the commitment of the grade 12 students to education and
community development. Having a library is where learners expand their knowledge
and personal growth.
By establishing this small but impactful facility inside classrooms, the project
can provide the school’s community with accessibility and a helpful environment for
education. The grade 12 students seek to pique the interest of funding agencies to
support this project in order for advancement of learning, vocabulary, and creativity
and it will also provide opportunities for the community to value reading and improve
critical/creative thinking.
RATIONALE OR BACKGROUND
The passing age of modern information keeps the youth indulged more with
technology and fast-paced media which could negatively decrease their critical
thinking. Additionally, as more and more products are made, environmental waste is
increasing with materials that still has value often goes without purpose and ends up
in landfills. With these profound and ongoing issues that trouble our society, this
project proposal intends for a sustainable and ethically educational solution.
A reading corner for grade 7 students can be significantly Important and
valuable in order to develop students interest for reading and expand vocabulary
knowledge, also while promoting the recycling of old materials and reusing of pre-
loved books, so that overproduced and underused items are utilized in a productive
and sustainable purpose.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Objectives
1. To establish a mini library made from recycled or eco-friendly materials.
2. To provide students with access to various books.
3. To improve students’ reading comprehension and vocabulary.
4. To promote environmental awareness by using sustainable resources.
5. To encourage community involvement and shared responsibility in supporting
literacy.
Methodology (Action Plan)
1. Attain validation from school administrators, teachers, and PTA to secure
supporters.
2. Designing the layout of the reading corner and planning for construction.
3. Lead donation drives for recyclable materials and pre-loved books.
4. Building and painting of bookshelves and organizing designated areas for mini
library in each classroom.
5. Sorting and arranging of books for different sections which will be equitably
distributed.
6. Launch a reading orientation in collaboration with the Read Society Club and
teachers.
7. Implementation of reading campaigns and programs to encourage active
student participation.
