H. A circle is the set of all points on a plane at a given distance from a fixed
point called the center. A circle is named by its center, Ex. ʘ A.
A radius (plural, radii) is any segment joining the center to a point on the
circle.
A chord is a segment joining any two points on the circle.
A diameter is a chord passing through the center.
An arc is a part of a circle between two points on the circle.
A semicircle is one half of a circle and measures 1800. A diameter
divides the circle into two semicircles.
A minor arc is less than a semicircle.
A major arc is greater than a semicircle.
Making generalizations and A central angle of a circle is an angle whose vertex is the center of the
abstractions circle and whose sides are radii of the circle.
about the lesson An inscribed angle of a circle is an angle whose vertex is on a circle
and whose sides contain chords of the circle.
The arc that lies in the interior of an inscribed angle and has endpoints
on the angle is called the intercepted arc of the angle.
