A health condition like type 2 diabetes can be researched through an experiment to check how well a new

treatment, such as a digital health program, works in helping patients improve their health when they are treated
outside a hospital. Data collection methods such as electronic health records and questionnaires that have been
tested and proven are good ways to track outcomes like blood sugar levels and how people feel overall. These
methods give reliable numbers that can be used for analysis. This method helps use proven practices by offering
strong scientific proof to make better choices in treating patients and caring for them. I care a lot about the
increasing number of people getting type 2 diabetes and the difficulties it creates for both patients and the
healthcare system. I really want to learn more about how digital health tools can be used in places with limited
resources to help patients stay involved and achieve better health results. The best way to test how well a new
digital health program works for managing type 2 diabetes in an outpatient setting is through an experimental
randomized controlled trial, which is a type of quantitative research method. Why: An RCT lets you change the
independent variable, which is the digital health program, and randomly assign people to either get the program
or not. This is important because it helps show if the program really causes the health results you see. This
design helps ensure that the results are accurate by reducing other factors that could affect the outcome, so we
can be sure that any improvements in health are because of the digital health program. My time working with
patients in underserved areas has shown me how creative digital tools can help fill gaps in healthcare. A
randomized controlled trial can thoroughly check if these solutions actually work in these particular situations,
going beyond just stories or examples to give a better reason to spread them more widely. Data Collection
Methods: Electronic Health Records (EHRs) are a good way to gather objective and clinical information like
blood glucose levels (HbA1c), how well someone follows their medication plan, and blood pressure
measurements. Validated questionnaires like the SF-36 for quality of life or the Diabetes Self-Efficacy Scale are
standardized tools that collect structured, numerical information about what patients report regarding their
health outcomes. . Electronic health records offer dependable and regular data, whereas well-made
questionnaires help gather patients' experiences in a clear and organized manner, making it easier to compare
different groups. Strengths: These methods offer objective, quantifiable data, enabling robust statistical analysis
to identify significant differences between groups. Limitations: Sometimes there might be mistakes or missing
information in the electronic health records, and information from questionnaires depends on people's memory,
which can lead to inaccuracies. Contribution to Evidence-Based Practice: This RCT, using EHR data and
validated questionnaires, will generate robust scientific evidence on the effectiveness of the digital health
intervention. Clinical guidelines: If the results are positive, they will clearly show healthcare providers and
policymakers that this digital program can be used as a standard treatment option for managing type 2 diabetes,
especially in similar outpatient and low-resource environments. Patient Care: This research will help create
better digital health tools that are more focused on the patient's needs and more effective, which can lead to
better health results for patients and less strain on the healthcare system over time, as decisions based on
tradition or guesswork are replaced by scientific evidence. Expected Difficulties and How to Deal With Them:
Problem: Getting People to Join and Stay Involved: In areas with few resources, people might have trouble
joining or keeping up with the digital program. Solution: I would partner with community health workers to help
spread the word about the study, provide some rewards to encourage participation, and make sure the digital
program is easy to use, fits with the culture of the people, and focuses on solving real health problems they face
so they are more likely to get involved. Challenge: Technical Access and Literacy: Not having a steady internet
connection or knowing how to use computers and other digital tools can make it hard for people to take part.
Solution: The study will involve providing support meetings in the community to help people learn how to use
digital tools, making sure the tool works without an internet connection, and designing it to be easy to use and
understand.
