Identify Various components of the computer System and

describe about each component:
COMPUTER:
an electronic device which takes in input from the user in the form of data and instructions and
process them and gives out suitable output as result when necessary.

Components of computer:
Input Devices:
Devices used by user to send data, instructions and signals to the computer.

Examples- keyboard, mouse, touchpad, trackball etc.

Output Devices:
Devices which able the computer to give out the processed information as result to the user.

Examples- moniter, projecter, speaker etc.

Hardware:
Components of computer which can be touched or seen by us.

Components of hardware:

• Motherboard – printed circuit board which assembles and interconnents different

computer components.
• CPU Case – metal enclosure which protects, assembles and organises other
components.
• CPU Heatsink – heatsinks with miniature fans to keep the processor cooled down i.e.
protects processor from overheating.
• SMPS(Switched Mode Power Supply) – provides stabilised power supply to different
components of the computer.
• CPU – brain of the computer. It helps the computer to take in input, process the data and
instructions i.e. converts them into useful information and give out the result as output.
It contains three components used to fetch and store data:
1. Control Unit
2. Arithmetic and logical Unit
3. Registers
• RAM – used to store the data and instructions temporarily until the computer is not
switched off. It is volatile in nature.
• Hard Disk – used to hold large amounts of data and instructions permanently.

Software:
Type of components of the computer which can neither be seen nor be touched by us.

Two types:

1. Operating System Software

2. Application Software.
