Team Project Summary Statement
Our project is for a small company that proposes to develop a software and hardware pro
duct for automated smart greenhouse management that is the basis for a business concept
to improve agricultural efficiency and sustainability through intelligent environmental
control. Our company is developing a Smart Greenhouse Automation System that enables re
al-time monitoring of temperature, humidity, CO₂, and soil moisture, and uses AI-driven
algorithms to automatically adjust irrigation, ventilation, and lighting to optimize cr
op growth. The system integrates IoT sensors, automated actuators, and a cloud-based da
shboard for remote monitoring, predictive analytics, and alerting, ensuring reliability
and scalability that far exceed today’s manual greenhouse operations.
We will develop a Project Management Plan to get this product out to the market in 9–1
2 months. We have been given a budget of $750,000 to complete the project in 9 months,
with $250,000 additional for further prototype development and demonstration within 3 a
dditional months if this can be justified based on planning estimates.

5. Project Risks
Identify potential risks or obstacles that may impact the project, as well as any mitigation strategie
s
Risk 1: Lack of teamwork collaboration and communication
Explanation: Unclear division of responsibilities or poor communication among team members may lead to
rework or reduced efficiency.
Mitigation Strategies: Establish clear task allocation and regular project meetings, utilising project
management tools (such as GITHUB) to ensure transparency of information.
Risk 2 : Data security and reliability risks
Explanation: Greenhouse operation data is transmitted through IoT and cloud platforms, with risks of n
etwork attacks, data leaks, or communication interruptions.
Mitigation Strategies: Use end-to-end encryption, user identity authentication and permission manageme
nt; establish data backup and disaster recovery mechanisms; conduct regular penetration testing and se
curity audits to ensure that the system meets security standards.
Risk 3: Budget and schedule overrun risk
Explanation: A 9-month development cycle and a budget of $750,000 may not be enough to cover all the a
ctual needs for hardware testing, AI tuning, and cloud operations, posing risks of delays and cost ove
rruns.
Mitigation Strategies: Strictly implement the project management plan; prioritise development of core
functionalities (monitoring, control, remote management), while placing advanced features (predictive
analytics) into an additional three-month prototyping phase for expansion.
