Ruijie Discovery Tool in Network Simulation

This report describes a computer network simulation using the Cisco Packet Tracer program. The report divides the network into four departments, each with its own subnet, switch, and VLANs. The report details the IP addresses, subnet masks, and configurations of each department in the simulation.

1. INTRODUCTION

In this practical class report, a test will be conducted to simulate a network.

of computers using equipment, protocols, and configurations present in
real situations. We will create a simulation using Cisco Packet Tracer which is
a free program that allows you to do this simulation.

2. DEVELOPMENT

Based on the studies of the subject of Networks and Distributed Systems that
this semester, we gained knowledge of the structure and configuration of
a computer network. We will use the Cisco Packet simulation tool.
Trace with the purpose of testing our knowledge in this referred discipline.

2.1 METHOD

There are 4 departments: Engineering, Purchasing, Internal IT, and Infrastructure. Each
department must contain: 20 stations, 2 servers and 2 printers,
totaling 24 hosts.
A subnet mask must be used that meets the need
presented. The network is Class C and the star topology should be used. For the
IP numbering, a sequence should be used in the subnets according to the
adopted mask. Since there are 24 hosts in each subnet, we should use a
mask that allows this configuration: in this case the network would be 27, the host
of 24.

Use the Cisco 2950-24 switch for each department, interconnecting them.
between them. Each department must be in a subnet. Configure a

1-12 VLAN 1 and 13-24 VLAN 2. Each VLAN will have 10 stations, 1
printer and a Server.

3. CONCLUSION

After conducting the analysis of the theoretical framework with the reported works
it was possible to synthesize that in all the works the Packet Tracer simulator was
used and showed an improvement in the learning process with the use of
simulators. This allows us to ascertain that it is an object that stimulates and motivates the

students in the teaching and learning process, especially in decision making

decisions, problem solving, being, also, easy assimilation of the content
learned.
Finally, I want to emphasize that the proposed exercise achieved its purpose of
According to the planned schedule, the use of the Cisco Packet Tracer tool was a
an innovative novelty in my study, as I still did not have certain familiarity with
this program. I intend to continue configuring networks and their classes to execute them
in this tool.
