Operations Manual 2
INTRODUCTION

We have prepared this manual to introduce the elevator and guide those responsible.
about the buildings, managers, operators, and users. About the care and
necessary procedures for the use of these equipment, so that it always
provide maximum security and performance.
We hope to always be together providing the best products and services for
guarantee the satisfaction of having an ARTAMA device.

Operations Manual 3
1. SAFETY INFORMATION
When using this elevator, basic safety measures should always be taken.
to reduce the risk of physical injuries. For the use of this equipment, the operators
they must be trained and aware of the risks of handling and operation

Read and make sure to understand all the instructions indicated in the elevator.
Observe all warnings and instructions indicated in the elevator.
There is no part that can be replaced or repaired by the user. The
Repairs must be carried out by qualified technicians.
Water infiltration in the facilities is harmful to the operation of the elevator.
Keep dry, permanently: Machine room;·Junction box;·Well and·
Cabin. Avoid washing floors or walls in halls and corridors near the
elevators.
Access to the machine room, the well, and the junction box should only be
allowed for qualified individuals.
- In case of fire, do not use the elevators. The evacuation of the building must be
done by the stairs. The elevators should be taken to the ground floor and then
unplugged with the doors open.
If the elevator stops between floors, the people trapped inside should:
Stay calm. The situation poses no imminent danger;· Activate the emergency button and
ask for help.

IMPORTANT:
I. Under no circumstances force doors or try to exit on your own.
II. Only qualified persons or members of the Fire Department can carry out safe rescues.
III. Each elevator has two power keys: one in the machine room and another in the
power entry panel of the building. In any rescue situation, one of the two.
power keys need to be turned off.
IV. Respect the maximum transport capacity of the elevator. It is mandatory to post on
inside the cabin the maximum allowed weight. Excess load causes wear
premature of the equipment.

Operations Manual 4
2. USER VERIFICATION OF THE SAFE OPERATION OF THE ELEVATOR

Users should be aware of irregularities in the operation of

elevators. Any irregularity must be reported immediately to maintenance or
security.
Before opening the floor door, ensure the presence of the cabin on the floor.
of the elevator.

The floor door can only open when the elevator cabin is stopped at
respective floor.
The elevator can only operate with the doors fully closed.
The elevator must not stop between floors.
There should be no height difference (steps) between the cabin and the floor.
The elevator must respond to all calls from the cabin and the floors.
The cabin cannot 'SWAY' too much during the ride nor make excessive noise.
Always observe the maintenance of steel cables, motor brakes, and reducers.

3. PROCEDURES TO AVOID WHEN USING THE ELEVATOR

Pull the floor door without the presence of the cabin on the floor.
Press the call button several times.
Place your hands on the protective bars and on the door bars.
Open the floor door with your feet.
Block the closing of doors with objects.
Pressing the emergency button unnecessarily.
Never carry loose parts or materials that exceed the safety barrier or
the grades of the doors.

Operations Manual 5
4. MAIN COMPONENTS OF THE ELEVATOR

The elevators consist of a set with electromechanical drive or

hydraulic, intended to perform the vertical transport of passengers or cargo between the
pavements of a building.

Machine house
Located at the top of the building, it houses all the equipment that it controls and
they control the elevator. In special projects, it can be located next to the shaft or
below, next to the well. Some elevators do not require the use of the machine room.

Control panel
Controls all elevator functions, such as traffic strategy, speed and
precision in stops.

Traction machine
Perform the pulling movement through a pulley, which receives the steel cables.
that traction the cabin and counterweight.

Speed limiter
Safety equipment that provides for the cabin to stop whenever it
exceeding the speed. Stopping its operation.

Box

inferior. It is the location where the cabin and counterweight move.

Cabin
It functions to transport people and cargo. The cabin is mounted on a
platform, in a steel frame composed of two beams fixed in
heads.
The set of cabin, frame, and platform is called a car.
Safety limiter
Ensures the delay and automatic stop of the elevator at a predetermined distance.

Operations Manual 6
determined by the extreme pavement or close to it.

Safety brake
It paralyzes the elevator when the speed limiter is activated. This occurs in
cases of abrupt changes in the predetermined speed.

Counterweight
Metal frame, suspended by the same steel cables that perform the
cabin movement. It is installed at the back or side of the box and serves the purpose
counterbalance the weight of the cabin.

Guides
Special profiles installed in the box that maintain the direction of the cabin and of
counterweight, during the movement, allowing for displacement.

Pavements
These are the floors where the cabin stops.

Floor doors
They are present on all floors and only open with the arrival of
elevator on the requested floor.

Door latch
The latch locks the doors at the moment of leaving the cabin.
It has systems that stop the operation of the elevator whenever a door of
the pavement is open.

Floor button
Control equipment that records the call on the access floors.
Well
Bottom edge of the box.
Cabin button
Control equipment that records the call of the access floors and others
optional functions.

6. OPERATION
The electric locks on the doors allow them to be opened only when the elevator
is on the pavement.
The doors also have safety limit switches. If any of the doors are
open, that is, open during the journey (in case of automatic latch failure), the
elevator does not work or stops working. To get it working again, the door(s) must be closed
door(s) and make a new activation.
The command buttons have mushroom type emergency button with
interlocking. In case of emergency, press it and the elevator will stop functioning and
prevent any other command. After the problem is resolved and the absence is verified

The safety brake is activated automatically in case of a variation in speed.
work.
The elevator is equipped with limit switches for automatic stops on the floors.
the main safety switch at the top. The main safety switch causes the
elevator shutdown if it, in the event of a failure, exceeds the end of travel
superior.
The security key also serves as a master key, shutting down the entire system.

Always strive to distribute loads as evenly as possible, ensuring

thus the alignment of the cabin on the guide columns, avoiding forcing the guides.
This elevator is exclusively for cargo transport and should not be used for
passenger transport.

Any damage to the safety components requires the elevator to be maintained.

before it returns to operation.
7. LIFECYCLE OF THE ELEVATOR

The elevator, like cars and computers, has a life cycle. The life
The useful life of an elevator is like the useful life of a car: based on usage, it adapts.

Operations Manual 13
User. Preventive maintenance regulates the components until the elevator reaches its
maximum performance, comfort, and safety.

However, over time, there is natural wear and tear on the equipment.

The ground floor door, for example, will naturally undergo more wear and tear than the
door of an intermediate floor.

Thus, there will come a time when the components of the door must be
exchanged, so that the elevator remains available, safe, and reliable.

In the early years, the replacement of elevator parts is not very frequent. However,
this does not diminish the need to strictly follow the technical recommendations so that
one can make good use of it.

From a certain period onwards, it is natural to have a greater amount of components.

replaced and maintenance calls due to wear suffered by the equipment.
In order to maintain the original characteristics of the product, it is necessary that the exchange of

equipment should be done properly.

ARTAMA guarantees the quality and safety of its products, guiding its
users to always acquire original parts.
