Collaborative work is a social interaction that seeks the construction of

knowledge through exploration, discussion, negotiation, and debate of a group
of participants.

Collaborative learning refers to teamwork methodologies.

It is immersed in the theory of social constructivism and focuses on the process

of knowledge construction that results from the interaction between a group
of participants who form formal or informal learning communities.

Group members through the completion of common tasks are

driven to cooperate towards achieving a common goal, as 'mutually
are responsible for each other's learning," for this purpose
they rely on resources provided by information technology.

The goal of collaborative learning is to lead participants to

construction of knowledge through exploration, discussion, negotiation and
debate and where the role of the teacher is to guide and facilitate that process of
knowledge, aimed at achieving a better understanding or comprehension
shared of a concept, problem or situation.

The characteristics of collaborative learning are recognized as:

The equality that each individual must have in the learning process.

Mutuality, understood as the connection, depth, and bidirectionality that

it must have the interaction of the members.

The distribution of responsibilities where everyone must fulfill their task to

the success of the group.

Joint planning and role exchange.

The basic elements that are part of collaborative work are:

Positive interdependence: All group members independently

of the capabilities that one has, they must contribute responsibly, significantly and
positively in the preparation of collaborative work, however,
Some members can support others with lower chances.

The interaction, the exchange of ideas and knowledge: People have a

a accumulation of knowledge acquired through experience or consultation, these
knowledge is made available to the members of the group.

The individual contribution: Each member must bring their knowledge and
experiences that contribute to enriching others.

Personal and group skills: The individual skills of the

group members contribute to the creation of an optimal work where
see the proposed goal reflected by the group.

For true collaborative learning to occur, it must be present in

count the following steps:

Identification of the capacities, deficiencies, and possibilities of the members of

team, this contributes to the allocation of roles.

Development of an action plan, with specific responsibilities, follow-up

and evaluation, regarding the final product.

Development of a sense of belonging to the group, establishing mutual respect.

the individual differences, the obligation that all have to participate in order to
achieve the proposed goal and solidarity among its members

While there are difficulties in collaborative learning related to

the learning methodology that is developed, with the learning styles
individual and with the use of the technology that mediates this process, these in turn
they become challenges that can be overcome when the interest in learning
in the main motivation for learning.

Contrary to what was previously stated, the advantages offered by learning

Collaborative are multiple, among which the following stand out:

the different spaces to establish communication either in real time

aspects of social life that we must adapt to quickly,
likewise the opportunities for improvement offered by the new technology are
at the disposal of each one of us and are characterized by a flexibility that
they attend to and respond to our particular needs of time, place, and
opportunity.

All of the above allows virtual learning processes to be scenarios.

that do not create communication barriers, that do not keep differences with others
models of training or learning.
