Biochemistry Lab Project Overview
Biochemistry Lab Project Overview
Marist College
Biochemistry Laboratory
October/2013
Introduction
1. Justification
The school proposes to provide teachers with the conditions to assume the role of
researchers alongside their students. In light of this, it becomes necessary to show to the
students that the human activity called science can also be done in the environment
of an elementary and secondary school, and 'doing science' requires a laboratory
adequate to ensure the success of learning.
With the advent of modern electronic techniques and access to the Internet, knowledge
it has become something quite common and easy. The student who is able to take advantage of
these digital facilities achieve success in their studies and, consequently, in their
future professional career. And the student who usually uses such tools of
the study also shows interest in developing projects in the field of science
experimental.
It is in this context that this educational project is inserted and justified since
explicit the need to work with the student on the activity of experimentation and
scientific investigation with laboratory practices, as this is a space that provides
to the student the exploration and creation of objects, concepts and demonstrations,
providing you with a better understanding of the contents through
experiments. In it, the didactic-pedagogical resources come to life. With the space, the
science teachers can liven up their work and enrich the activities of
teaching-learning, making this process more enjoyable and effective, in addition to providing
flow to the creativity of the students.
The study of a science requires time and conducive environments; it is necessary to take risks and
to experiment with new practices, new knowledge, and new perspectives. We hope that
our students attend the teaching laboratory and transform it into a
room-environment for discussion and collective construction of scientific knowledge.
Objectives
2.1 - General Objective
Support and assist the teachers of Science, Physics, Biology, and Chemistry in their
pedagogical practices, providing interaction/integration of these professionals and
students, always highlighting the renewal of content and the search for new
laboratory practices that can help them build critical mass focused on science.
This constitutes one of the points of fundamental importance in the attempt to integrate the area.
of science at school.
1. To exercise in the student the ability to reflect on natural phenomena and how these
phenomena can be explained scientifically;
3. Lead the student to conclude, on their own, about a certain phenomenon, based on
measurable results.
3. Goals
Insert (through the professors of the area) 100% of the students in practical activities of
Science Laboratory;

Nevertheless, the National Curriculum Guidelines for Science Education advocate for
the need to contextualize the teaching content in the reality experienced by
students, in order to give them meaning and, thus, contribute to learning (Brazil,
1999).
Through the presented challenge, it becomes necessary to disseminate the practices of
scientific experimentation with the aim of enabling a better understanding of
themes of the curriculum adopted in the school in the subjects of the Natural Sciences area. Such
the importance is justified because in addition to showing the theme under study with activities
practices end up making the class more attractive to the student.
5. Methodology.
Provide a general guide and basic rules considered minimal for operation
laboratory practical class insurance.
Guide students and teachers on the risks and accidents of the laboratory.
3. Coordinate and organize the monthly practical class schedules of the laboratory,
ensuring that there is efficient support for teachers and students.
4. Take care of the overall structure of the laboratory: equipment, materials, reagents, and
installations. Ensure the operation of each of these items.
6. Conduct training for teachers on the use of the laboratory, especially regarding
it concerns new teachers.
7. Maintain contact with the teaching team regarding the organization of calendars and
actions related to pedagogical practice.
