Generation Alpha
Generation Alpha is considered those born from the year 2010 onwards, and who, due to the
evolution of new technologies are classified as the first generation totally
digital. In fact, it is not a coincidence that the date set as the beginning of Generation Alpha
coincide with the launch of the first iPad.
Its greatest characteristic, as already mentioned, is the mastery of technologies, due to
that Alpha children are hyperconnected with them, to the point that it becomes a lifestyle
that allows them to develop a variety of skills and abilities. For example, with the
video games improve their coordination, their reflexes, their decision-making, they learn to work
in a team and to communicate to achieve a specific goal. Another of its characteristics is that
visual learning predominates over textual learning among them, as they have acquired a
digital device even before learning to read, which makes them very accustomed to the
trends and technological novelties such as videos, animations, series, streams, etc. On the other hand
On the other hand, this generation, according to some neuroscientists and psychologists, also has some
negative realities as the persistent use of technology allows them to develop skills,
but also as a consequence reduces their ability to pay attention and concentrate, the loss
of their social skills, since they do not socialize in the traditional way, but rather through a
screen and according to psychologist Jean M. Twenge, there is an increase in depression and
anxiety, as well as feelings of sadness and loneliness in relation to the increase of
technologies in children.
Finally, it is important to mention that this generation will have to worry about the
impact generated by climate change and the transition from the current world to a more
sustainable.
