Activities for Mixture Classification

The didactic sequence proposes three sessions to teach students about homogeneous and heterogeneous mixtures. In the first session, students will identify mixtures in their environment and discuss their prior ideas. In the second, they will carry out activities such as word searches and classify mixtures. In the third, they will conduct experiments in the laboratory to distinguish homogeneous mixtures from heterogeneous ones. In the end, students will research more about mixtures.

1. IDENTIFICATION OF HOMOGENEOUS AND HETEROGENEOUS MIXTURES

The following activity aims to introduce students to the diverse
world of the mixtures that surround your environment, with this it is proposed to identify the
mixtures, in such a way that they can be classified, some that are more common
in their daily life, this aims to present the objective of the unit
teaching students and engaging them to learn the content they will see in
class. INTRODUCTION

classifications of substances. *Mixtures; aqueous solutions and pure substances

that students can differentiate between homogeneous mixtures and
heterogeneous based on the use of diverse criteria, which lead it to
to be able to classify them.
so that students can distinguish between mixtures of another type
substances based on their physical properties.
6. Review with the students the prior ideas of what they understand about the
concept of substance, and what relationship it has with the environment that surrounds it.
PURPOSES OF THE TEACHER
[Link] goals: Students will share their prior ideas with the group.
they will discuss the ideas raised during the development of the previous brainstorming session,
generating possible answers to his colleagues' questions.

list of the components that make it up, subsequently the teacher
a list will be drawn up on the board of the results based on the observations
made by the students, this list will allow verification of the results (20 min)

12. In nature, most substances are found forming mixtures: the
air, seawater, milk, oil, etc. When the appearance of the mixture
it is totally uniform it is a homogeneous mixture like the case of a
soft drink. If the properties vary at different points of the mixture and are
they can distinguish their components at first glance or with the help of some
devices, it is a heterogeneous mixture. Introductory part on the topic of mixtures

32. Learning will be based on projects, as for the final work they must
prepare: a snow, mayonnaise, salad, etc., to finalize the work of
mixtures, and thus proceed to understand the different separation methods
of mixtures. In which they must: 1. Identify the mixtures present in their
scope. 2. Differentiate the various types of mixtures. 3. Know some techniques
the methods of separation of mixtures. 4. Analyze the importance of mixtures in
the production of everyday use products. 5. Reflect on the application
of the methods of separation of mixtures for the benefit of humanity and of
environment.
