DEAR MUSIC FRIENDS,
The 11th "HEIRS OF ORPHEUS" INTERNATIONAL MUSIC COMPETITION,
Albena, Bulgaria,
will take place from 2nd to 12th September 2024 in an ONLINE Edition.
During the competition, there are also online MASTER CLASSES for:
Piano, Piano duo / trio / quartet, Violin, Violin duo / trio, Viola, Flute,
Chamber ensemble, Accompaniment, Composition,
Classical singing - solo and ensemble, chamber and opera repertoire.
REGULATIONS OF THE COMPETITION
The application form of contestants must indicate the links of the video
recordings of the performed compositions / tours, posted only on YouTube.
The application form, links and other documents for participation must be sent
as attachments with one letter to the E-mail address bilibon@[Link] .
The deadline for submission is August 01, 2024!
The competition will be held in a one round; the exceptions are listed below.
The competition program is free, depending on the individual preferences of
each performer. It should include: two or more compositions of different character
and genre, by different composers, and of different styles, ranging from the
Renaissance to the present day.
Attention! The video performances must be recorded on acoustic instruments
in exception of the section [Link]-Rock and Jazz, and in the Folk-jazz nomination
in section [Link]!
Video recordings must meet the following mandatory parameters
and requirements:
1. All videos must be made no earlier than January 01, 2024 and be available
on YouTube at least until December 01, 2024.
2. Contestants should wear concert costumes / dresses.
3. The video recording must be uninterrupted from start to finish, including pauses

between parts.
4. Installation, sound editing, use of video effects is not allowed.
5. The recording should not contain extraneous sounds and noises, additional bright light
sources, except for normal natural or artificial lighting.
6. Video shooting should be carried out only in profile and full-face so that the hands,
faces and instruments of the performers are visible.
7. The videos of the participants from the solo nomination must be played by memory
Exception: wind and brass instruments.
8. Each work must correspond to a separate link.
Records of the entire program / tours are allowed with one link.
The information design of the videos should be in English and of the following
order
and content:
1. At the beginning – the name of the competition and the website.
2. First and last name of the contestant / contestants; nomination and age group.
3. Program: composer/s (initials and surname), work (full designation).

Recommendations
Dear participants,
Remember that the evaluation of your performance in an online competition depends
directly on compliance with the requirements for video recordings and their quality.
Therefore:
It is preferable to record using professional and semi-professional video and photo
cameras with high optical and acoustic parameters.
Recordings of soloists on a smart phone and tablet are allowed, but this is not
desirable in ensemble nominations.
Use a tripod to avoid shaking and acoustic defects when shooting without it.
Avoid recording video from very close, as well as from too far away, as in both
cases this leads to acoustic defects.
Finally, don't settle for just one video recording session. The online format
of the contest gives you the opportunity to make several sessions and choose
the video that best demonstrates your performance qualities and the brightness
of your stage presence!
NOMINATIONS, AGE GROUPS AND DURATION OF THE PROGRAM
The age group is determined according to the age
on the opening day of the competition: September 02, 2024.
SECTION I “CLASSICAL MUSIC”
1. SOLOIST INSTRUMENTALIST
a) Piano, Organ, Violin, Viola, Violoncello, Double Bass, Flute, Recorder
(Blockflute),
Oboe, Clarinet, Saxophone, Bassoon, Trumpet, French Horn, Trombone, Tuba,
Harp,
Celtic Harp, Percussion Instruments;
b) Academic direction: Bayan, Accordion, Chromatic harmonica, Guitar,
Balalayka, Domra, Dombra, Gusli, Tsimbal, Kobiz etc.
First age group up to 10 years 5 to 7 min.
Second age group 11 - 14 years 10 to 12 min.
Third age group 15 - 19 years 14 to 16 min.
Fourth age group 20 - 25 years 16 to 18 min.
Fifth age group no age limit 18 to 20 min.
Only for Piano, Organ, Bayan, Accordion, Violin, Viola and Violoncello from
Fourth and Fifth age groups the competition will be held in two rounds:
Fourth age group: 1-st round - 16 to 18 min., 2-nd round - 12 to 14 min.;
Fifth age group: 1-st round - 18 to 20 min., 2-nd round - 14 to 16 min.
The program might include:
First round:
а) polyphonic piece – from Baroque up to our days;
b) virtuoso etude or capriccio, or toccata;
c) movement/s of a sonata or a concerto; or variations; or rondo; or fantasy – from the
classic up to our days.
Second round:

а) a major composition – from the Romantic era up to our days;
b) one or more pieces chosen by the participant.
Repeats from the program of the first round are not allowed.
2. PIANO DUO (DUET), TRIO and QUARTET – for one and two pianos,
for 4, 6 and 8 hands.
First age group up to 14 years 10 to 12 min.
Second age group 15 - 19 years 14 to 16 min.
Third age group 20 - 25 years 16 to 18 min.
Fourth age group no age limit 18 to 20 min.
3. VIOLIN DUO
First age group up to 14 years 10 to 12 min.
Second age group 15 - 19 years 14 to 16 min.
Third age group 20 - 25 years 16 to 18 min.
Fourth age group no age limit 18 to 20 min.

First age group up to 19 years 10 to 12 min.
Second age group 20 - 25 years 12 to 15 min.
Third age group no age limit 15 to 20 min.
For a Second and Third age group the competition will be held in two rounds
with the same specified duration.
Repeats from the program of the first round are not allowed
5. SOLO CLASSIC SINGING – all kinds of voices
First age group 17 - 25 years 10 to 12 min.
Second age group 26 - 35 years 12 to 14 min.
Third age group no age limit 14 to 16 min.
The competition will be held in two rounds with the same specified duration.
Repeats from the program of the first round are not allowed.
It is preferable the performance in various epochs, styles and genres (song, lied,
canzone, romance, aria or a scene from opera / operetta etc.) - from Baroque up to our
days.

6. ENSEMBLE CLASSIC SINGING – chamber and opera ensembles (up to a quartet
incl.).
First age group 17 - 25 years 10 to 12 min.
Second age group 26 - 35 years 12 to 14 min.
Third age group no age limit 14 to 16 min.
The competition will be held in two rounds with the same specified duration.
Repeats from the program of the first round are not allowed.
It is preferable the performance in various epochs, styles and genres (chamber
ensemble, opera / operetta ensemble or scene, part/s of a cantata, oratorio, mass,
requiem, passion etc.) - from Baroque up to our days.
7. CHOIR – uniform, mixed
Children up to 17 years 12 to 15 min.
Youth up to 30 years 15 to 18 min.
Third age group no age limit 18 to 20 min.
8. ORCHESTRA – chamber, small symphonic, wind, folk instruments academic
direction; any other combinations.
First age group up to 20 years 12 to 15 min.
Second age group up to 35 years 15 to 20 min.
9. COMPOSITION – presentation of a musical score/s and video recording/s of two
or more pieces in different genres.
First age group up to 19 years 5 to 10 min.
Second age group 20 - 25 years 10 to 15 min.
Third age group no age limit 15 to 20 min.
10. “TEACHER AND STUDENT / STUDENTS”
a) piano duo (duet), trio and quartet – for one and two pianos, for 4, 6 and 8 hands;
b) violin duo and trio;
c) chamber ensembles – from a sonata duo to a quintet, violin ensemble, ensemble
of violoncellos, ensemble of uniform or different wind instruments, ensemble of
percussion instruments, ensemble of historical instruments, ensemble of other
instruments (academic direction); vocal ensemble, mixed ensemble etc.
Note: The age group in this nomination depends on the age of the students.
First age group up to 10 years 5 to 7 min.
Second age group 11 - 14 years 10 to 12 min.
Third age group 15 - 19 years 14 to 16 min.
Fourth age group 20 - 25 years 18 to 20 min.
11. “MUSICIAN`S FAMILY”
a) piano duo (duet), trio and quartet – for one and two pianos, for 4, 6 and 8 hands;
b) violin duo and trio;
c) chamber vocal, chamber instrumental or mixed ensemble.
Note: If the participants in this nomination are from two or more age groups,
the age group is determined according to the age group of the youngest.
First age group up to 10 years 5 to 7 min.
Second age group 11 - 14 years 10 to 12 min.
Third age group 15 - 19 years 14 to 16 min.

Fourth age group 20 - 25 years 18 to 20 min.
12. ACCOMPANIMENT – no age limit
MASTER CLASSES (September 1st – 15th, 2024):
Piano, Piano duo/trio/quartet, Violin, Violin duo/trio, Viola, Flute, Chamber music,
Accompaniment, Composition, solo and ensemble Singing, Chamber-vocal &
Opera repertoire.
Master classes - to book previously number of the hours
(1 academic hour of 45min.)

REGULATIONS
I. PARTICIPATION CONDITIONS
Participation documents and links to the YouTube are submitted together
and once an in one e-mail to: bilibon@[Link] - Bogomil Bonev, Artistic Director
of the Competition.
DOCUMENTS ARE ACCEPTED from April 10th till August 1st 2024!
NB! When submitting documents and paying entrance fees until June 10th,
11:59 PM, participants enjoy a discount of 10 Euro per each nomination!
When submitting documents from June 11th to July 10th, 11:59 PM,
entrance fees are paid in full.
When submitting documents from July 11th to August 1st, 11:59 PM,
entrance fees are increased by 10 Euro per person per a nomination!
After the last date (August 1st!) the documents are examined and registered
participants with the increased entrance fees by 20 Euro per person per
a nomination!
APPLICATION FEES
Individual performers 60 Euro
Each participation in other nominations 30 Euro for each
Members of chamber ensembles 30 Euro per person
Choir, orchestra 150 Euro collectively

Make sure that the bank commission for the transfer is not taken from the cost
of the entrance fee for participation in the competition.

in English. Accurate and detailed filling on the computer is mandatory!
Just not in capital letters alone! Not PDF!
Substitutions of works from the declared program are not allowed.
NB: For participation in every nomination a separate set of documents and
photographs is applied.
The participants in the ensemble nominations fill one general Application form!
two photographs: one as for documents; another - in stage clothes and interior,
instrumentalists - with a instrument, the ensembles – together, the teams / groups –
with their conductor;
short creative CV with references to pedagogues and educational institutions / place
of work; with a list of prizes at competitions and festivals, participation in prestigious
concerts or roles in performances;
photocopy of documents to pay a application fee - definitely!;
copy of a ID card or a passport.

ІІ. PRIZES
The winners in all specialties, nominations and age groups of the Competition
receive the titles “Laureate” of І, ІІ or ІІІ Prize and Diploma, also special Diplomas:
- for the best performance of works by composers of the world musical heritage, whose
jubilee anniversary or commemorative day is marked in 2024;
- for the best performance of a work by Bulgarian composer by a foreign participant;
- for the best performance of contemporary music;
- for the most artistic contestant;
- for the youngest participant in the competition;
- for pedagogical achievements:
(Diplomas for HIGH EDUCATIONAL ACHIEVEMENTS:
for preparing several Laureates to participate in the Competition;
for preparing the Laureate(s) of I Prize to participate in the Competition).
The highest prize of the Competition is “Grand Prix”. The winner is determined
by an additional tour of the nominees by the Jury during the competition.
The reward fund (3500 Euro) includes:
- cash prizes for participants of the Grand Prix competition and others (by the decision of
the Jury) from the organizers, from Bulgarian and foreign institutions, artists unions,
foundations;
- a prizewinners concert; other concerts is also available;
- one certificate award $ 2000 for studies at Long Island Conservatory, New York, the
USA;
- a free piano master-course for a solo or piano ensemble of 4 or more hands in
Germany in 2025;

- special Desislava Boneva (Soprano) award;
- participation as a soloists during the season 2025 with a symphony orchestra.
III. JURY
The International Jury includes famous musicians from Bulgaria, China, Czech Republic,
Germany, Estonia, Russia, the USA, Turkey etc.
The Jury has the right not to award all announced prizes or divide them.
Please follow the time limit in each age group.
The Jury reserves the right to exceed the listening time limit for musical reasons by +2
minutes.
Every decision of the Jury is final.

representatives of their countries, in agreement with the Organizing Committee
and the artistic director of the competition
and the provision of advertising space in the next competition booklet.

reserves the right to make changes to the Regulation, the dates of conducting,
the program, the schedules and any other current information
related to the organization and conduct of the Competition.
The Organizational Committee of the IMC “HEIRS OF ORPHEUS”
has the exclusive right to negotiate about full or partial recording,
shooting or broadcasting of the Competition.
For records (audio, video, СD, MP3, DVD) during the Competition
as well as for their broadcasting, no remunerations are paid to the participants.
