The diagram below shows the process of producing electricity from geothermal energy.

Bài mẫu Band 7.5–8.0

The diagram illustrates how electricity is produced from geothermal energy using a geothermal
power plant. Overall, the process consists of five main stages, beginning with cold water being
pumped underground and ending with electricity being generated by a turbine and generator.

In the first stage, cold water is pumped down through an injection well to a depth of
approximately 4.5 kilometers into a geothermal zone. This zone contains hot rocks which
naturally heat the water. In the second stage, the heated water travels back up through a
production well and reaches the surface.

Next, the hot water is directed into a condenser, where it is transformed into steam. This steam
is then used to power a turbine, which spins rapidly due to the pressure of the steam. The
movement of the turbine, in turn, activates a generator connected to it.

Finally, the generator produces electricity, which is then distributed for consumption. The cycle
ensures that natural geothermal heat is effectively converted into a reliable source of electrical
power.

In conclusion, the process shows a clear sequence in which underground heat from hot rocks is
harnessed to generate electricity, demonstrating a sustainable use of renewable energy.

The line graph below shows the percentage of households with Internet access in three
countries (USA, UK, and Canada) between 1998 and 2008.

Bài mẫu Band 7.5–8.0

The line graph compares the proportion of households that had access to the Internet in the
USA, the UK, and Canada over a ten-year period from 1998 to 2008. Overall, Internet usage
increased significantly in all three countries, with the UK showing the fastest growth and
eventually overtaking both the USA and Canada.

In 1998, the USA had the highest percentage of Internet users, at around 20%, followed by
Canada at 15%, while the UK lagged behind with less than 10%. Over the next five years,
Internet access expanded steadily in all three nations, but the rise was particularly sharp in the
UK, where the figure surged to approximately 45% by 2003.
From 2003 to 2008, growth continued but at a slightly slower pace. By the end of the period,
the UK reached the highest level, with nearly 80% of households connected to the Internet.
Canada followed closely at around 75%, while the USA, despite its early lead, recorded the
lowest figure among the three countries, at about 70%.

In conclusion, although the USA initially had the largest share of households with Internet
access, the UK experienced the most dramatic increase and ended up ahead of both Canada
and the USA by 2008.
